Finally we can get past this fight card and move on with our MMA life’s. Tonight fight card was subject to a ton of injuries which in turn made many bad talk the PPV, including me. I didn’t have a problem with the fights themselves, I had a problem with the quality of fights for my hard earned and hard to come by cash. I understood it was due to the injuries so I didn’t buy the PPV instead I want back to Ricky’s Sports bar. The night started out with Junior Dos Santos protected the massive ear and landing a nice left hook followed by some ground and pound until the ref. stepped in to defeat Gilbert Yvel. Dos Santos puts himself in the top five heavyweight contenders with that win but is going to have to wait awhile to get a piece of the top guys. Shane Carwin and Frank Mir have been scheduled to fight for the interim title at UFC 111 while Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez are set to fight next month. Obviously if Brock Lesner comes back he’ll face the winner of Carwin vs. Mir if he doesn’t the winner of Nogueira vs. Velasquez will step in. That will likely give Dos Santos one of the losers for his next fight, but it gets a little tricky. The loser of Mir vs. Carwin is no problem it gets interesting with the Nogueira vs. Velasquez loser since Dos Santos and Nogueira train together. I think if Nogueira wins we see Dos Santos vs. Velasquez at UFC 112 but if Velasquez win then Dos Santos will have to wait to fight the loser of Mir vs. Carwin.

We had another quick fight next as Jim Miller finally found an opponent in Duane Ludwig. Miller has the superior ground game but used the striking to bring Ludwig to the ground then quickly submitted via armbar. Miller was really in a no win situation here as he was clearly better the Ludwig and really doesn’t move up the ladder with the win. I would really like him to fight one of the two guys he was scheduled to face either Tyson Griffen or Sean Sherk next.

Next up was Joe Lauzon coming back from a year off to face Sam Stout. This fight started out great with Lauzon taking the fight down and getting a real solid kimura that Stout rolled several times to get out of and get back to the feet. By the last half of the round though Stout started to take over and when the second round started it was clear Lauzon had nothing left in the tank. The second and third round Stout was using Lauzon as a punching bag and there was nothing Lauzon could do. Sam Stout won by Unanimous Decision by a wide margin too.

The fouth fight tonight was Paul Daley vs. Dustin Hazelett and this one was not going to see a second round. We all know that if the fight went to the ground Hazelett wins but if they sand Daley would win. Well this fight didn’t last long enought to go to the gound as Daley knocked Hazelett out cold. Daley looks to be the real deal at Welterweight and a threat to anyone the stand with him. He’s is still a few fights off before talk of a title shot start but man he is fun to watch. Many are talking about wanting to see Daley vs. Anthony Johnson next and that one would be a lot of fun to watch.

It was now time for the main event of Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva and I’ll sum the fight up with one word “Frustration”. Evans had a gameplan to takedown and not staying in front of Silva and he executed to perfection. He was clearly faster the Silva and was about to take him down with ease, he didn’t do much damage on the ground though because Silva got back up quickly. This Frustrated both the fans who boo’d and Silva who looked discouraged after every takedown.  Evans clearly won the first two rounds and in the Third round Silva showing his frustration tried to get Evans to engage by mocking him and playing up to the crowd. Surprisingly it worked halfway into the round and Evans engaged and paid the price getting rocked, wobbling his legs and going to the ground. Silva looked to finish the fight but was sloping letting Evans up and then stood their trying to taunt Evans into engaging again. Evans was clearly hurt and ripe for the taking but Silva just didn’t do it, enter my frustration. I don’t understand why Silva didn’t finish Evans and I don’t agree with the theory that Silva was to gassed. He wasn’t to gassed to move around and taunt Evans, he was an idiot and lost the fight because of it. Where Silva goes from he I really don’t know and don’t care. Evans will likely finally get he’s shot at Rampage Jackson later this year unless Rampage stars in a Rocky III remake as James “Clubber” Lang.

The nights bonuses were given 50k each and went too:
