MMA Rankings updated after UFC 117

| August 11, 2010 | Reply

Following an awesome night of fights last Saturday it was once again time to update the MMA Valor fighter rankings. Unlike several MMA rankings on the internet that are one person’s opinion, our rankings are compiled from 8-10 different people’s rankings. This is meant to cut back the bias of a single person views to better represent an honest ranking.

Follow his near victory over middleweight champ Anderson Silva; Chael Sonnen solidified his spot as the number two middleweight. He was ranked third last month but with his performance at UFC 117 he easily move past Jake Shields, who is ranked third but is set to fight at welterweight next time out.

The buzz around Fabricio Werdum chilled a little as he dropped from third to fifth, even though none of the top five fighters fought this past month. Werdum almost didn’t even make the top five as Junior Dos Santos, following his decision victory over Roy Nelson gave him a run for that fifth spot.

Last thing to point out is something you won’t see regarding the light heavyweight division. After another impressive victory at UFC on versus 2, Jon Jones is knocking on the door and was close to making it into that fifth spot. You have been warned guys Jon Jones is coming!

Make sure you check out the MMA rankings and give us your thoughts (below)

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
