[Pic of the day] Nick Diaz vs KJ Noons: Fact!
Today Strikeforce sent out an “insiders” email for the upcoming Strikeforce event in San Jose, California on October 9th. The email talks about Nick Diaz and Sarah Kaufman, the Strikeforce men’s and women’s Welterweight World Champions returning to the cage. Kaufman will face off against Marloes Coenen, while Diaz will face an opponent to be named in the coming days.
Look closely at the name of the event listed under “upcoming events” (pictured). Props to Josh Nason, Featured Columnist for Bleacher Report for noticing it, while other (including me) over looked it.
So what to you make of this?
[Update] It appears that after the above mistake got back to Strikeforce it forced their hand. According to MMA Fighting the fight is now “official” and the headline the October 9th show in San Jose.
With a fight card with two title fights already booked, plus middleweights Matt Lindland vs. Luke Rockhold the card is shaping up nicely. Throw in a rumored fight between former lightweight champ Josh Thomson against Gesias ”JZ” Cavalcante and the card is looking solid.
Stay tuned for more information on this fight card.

I like this fight if Strikforce can make it happen. I do not see why they cant. I think the outcome will be the same as their 2007 fight because Nick Diaz is too wild and undisciplined. This makes for good fights with old opponants like Frank Shamrock or other wild opponants but against KJ Noons who can be a sniper with his fists, this wild style would be a mistake. Nick will have to try and take it to the floor for a submission or some ground and pound but I do not see him very successful with that. I predict Noons to win in knockout fashion if this figt is indeed made.
