Four fighters shared the airwaves today for 30 minutes as reporters from around the world chimed in with questions about the upcoming UFC 120. Michael Bisping, Carlos Condit, Dan Hardy, and Yoshihiro Akiyama all were on board to answer the press as best as possible. It was mentioned at the beginning of the call that this event is the highest grossing Euro MMA card to date. They started with the main event then moved to the Hardy / Condit fight and below is the quick breakdown of what the fighters want us to know about the upcoming event.

Michael Bisping comments:

When asked if his popularity in his hometown has affected his training he said that nothing has really changed, or affected his training schedule.

When asked if he is worried that Akiyama was training at Greg Jackson’s a camp that already produced a win against him, he said that he was really just focused on himself and his training because he knows it will be a tough fight.

Bisping mentioned that he is happy to see his teammate on this season of TUF and is glued to the news to see if he’s doing well.

Bisping when asked about fighting in his hometown and having an advantage, He said he always feels an edge in his hometown and loves to keep the fans excited because they pay good money to see him fight.

Bisping also says all aspects of MMA for him are better and more matured, and he can really see himself in the title picture, Says he never lost at MW except for Henderson and that he beat Wand. He also mentioned that if he wins this fight he wants one more top dog then a title shot.

Yoshihiro Akiyama comments:

When asked how this fight will go, Yoshihiro Akiyama said that takedowns will be the deciding factor in this fight, and that he’s confident in his grappling.

When asked about the Leben loss, Akiyama said that he did not have the proper time to prepare for his new opponent.

When asked what he worked on at Greg Jacksons, He mentioned that he improved his takedowns and pacing himself for a 3 round fight.

Akiyama has no trash talk for Bisping and wouldn’t like to engage in trash talk, he respects him as a tough opponent.

Also when asked about his UFC career up to date, Akiyama said that his win and loss have improved him as a fighter.

Carlos Condit comments:

When Condit was asked if the time-lapse would affect him during the fight, Condit said that he has fought overseas before and is ready to go so it will not affect him.

When Condit was asked why he called out Hardy in public, Condit said that Hardy has status and is coming off a title shot, he said he wants to move up the rankings, and knows the fight is going to be great. He says he loves putting on exciting fights for the fans and this will be one.

Condit mentioned that some fighters thrive and others crumble in adversity, and also said Hardy showed a lot of heart against GSP.

Dan Hardy comments:

When asked about what he has done to prepare for the fight, Hardy mentioned that he has been working his weaknesses – wrestling / bjj his ground game mostly for this fight and feels more comfortable with it. Hardy also said his striking has improved for this fight.

When asked about fighting in the UK, Hardy says no real difference where he fights, but loves fighting in the UK for his fans and feels comfortable there

When asked about his game plans in this and future fights, Hardy says he’s well on the way of keeping the fight standing with his wrestling improvements, and even his striking has improved.

The next questioned asked Hardy if he would like to receive fight of the night bonus, Hardy would like to see fight of the night in his bank account, he’s confident in his power / chin and not to be surprised if he takes Condit down and puts him to sleep.

The operator then started to wrap up the phone call when Hardy cut in and said “Hey Condit, I’m not playing” Condit cuts in and says “Bring it” then Hardy proclaims “I’m going to Fucking knock you out” and Condit is heard laughing in the background. This one is set to be a very exciting fight.
