The first major injury of 2011 just hit UFC 125 and its co-main event. First reported by Heavy.com and later confirmed by MMAFighting.com, Jose Aldo (18-1) has withdrawn from his fight at UFC 125 with a compacted vertebrae was causing tingling in Aldo’s arms.

Aldo was set to face Josh Grispi (14-1) for the first ever title defense of the UFC featherweight title in the nights co-main event. UFC 125 is the first event scheduled for 2011 airing on PPV from Las Vegas on January 1, 2011. UFC 125 is headlined by a lightweight championship fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

There has been no word on a possible replacement for the now vacant UFC 125 co-main event.

[Update] Josh Gross of ESPN is reporting that Doctors recommended that Aldo take a month off from training to focus on physical therapy, but Aldo doesn’t care about the injury and wants to fight.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
