MMA Xplosion Event Results for Jan 29th

MMA Xplosion held their most recent event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The card was set up with countries fighting against each other, with USA taking on Brazil and Mexico facing Kazakhstan. The night was full of exciting fights and great finishes. What also made the event exciting were its special attraction bouts, a boxing match and a submission-grappling match. The crown was on fire for each bout and every fighter helped make the show a successful one. Here are the results:

USA vs. Brazil

205 lbs: USA’s Damien Knight (3-0) vs. Brazil’s Vinny Magalhaes (4-5)

Round 1: Magalhaes trips down Knight and works for an Armbar but Knight slips out. Magalhaes immediately locks in a Triangle Choke. Magalhaes throws elbows from trying to force the tap but Knight survives and gets out. Magalhaes goes back to an Armbar but can’t straighten out the arm. Knight gets out and into Magalhaes’s guard. Magalhaes throwing elbows from the bottom. Magalhaes now working an Omoplata but Knight rolls out of it and the horn sounds.

Round 2: Magalhaes gets the Muay-Thai clinch and lands knees to the body. Knight trips Magalhaes back to the ground. Magalhaes goes back to working the Omoplata. Magalhaes rolls Knight over and gets the mount. Knight rolls and Magalhaes gets his back. Magalhaes lands a number of punches. Knight gets back up and into Magalhaess guard. Magalhaes rolls and takes Knight’s back. Magalhaes transitions into an Armbar and Knight taps.

Winner: Vinny Magalhaes via Armbar (3:51, Round 2)

160 lbs: USA’s Jason Trevino (3-3) vs. Brazil’s Christian Squeti (12-5-1)

Round 1: Trevino connects with a straight right. Squeti goes for a takedown but Trevino stuffs it. Trevino lands some knees to the body. Trevino rocks Squeti with another straight right. Trevino trips Squeti down. Squeti rolls over and gets on top. They stand up and Trevino rocks Squeti with a left/right combo and a knee from the clich. Trevino now trying to finish the fight on the feet but the bell sounds.

Round 2: Both fighters come out throwing wild punches. Squeti works some dirty boxing with Trevino against the ropes. Squeti trips Trevino to the ground. Trevino tries for an Armbar but Squeti gets loose. Trevino rolls Squeti over and gets the top position as the round ends.

Round 3: Trevino lands a few leg kicks. Squeti lands a hard overhand right that hurt Trevino. Both men tie up against the ropes. Squeti works Trevino down to the ground. Squeti transitions to the mount and Trevino rolls and gives up his back. Squeti lands some hammer fists and works a choke but the bell rings before he can lock it in.

Winner: Christian Squeti via Unanimous Decision

145 lbs: USA’s Josh Montalvo (0-0) vs. Brazil’s Pedro Munoz (3-0)

Round 1: Munoz throws a few head kicks but Montalvo blocks them. Munoz lands a kick to the groin of Montalvo. Montalvo recovers. Both fighters standing in the pocket swinging. Montalvo lands a head/body combo. Munoz with a nice kick to the body. Montalvo lands a superman punch that immediately starts the swelling under Munoz’s right eye.

Round 2: Munoz gets a takedown and takes Montalvo’s back. Montalvo defending the rear naked choke. Munoz locks in a body triangle. Munoz lands some shots to the ribs and sinks the choke and Montalvo taps.

Winner: Pedro Munoz via Rear-Naked Choke (2:31, Round 2)

185 lbs: USA’s Samardzhievimir Samardzhiev (1-0) vs. Brazil’s Gabe Miranda (4-9)

Round 1: Samardzhiev gets the takedown. Landing big shots from the top. Miranda works for an Armbar but Samardzhiev gets loose. Samardzhiev works an Americana but lets it go. Samardzhiev lands some short elbows. Samardzhiev continues to pound away at Miranda.

Round 2: Samardzhiev gets the takedown with a big slam. Samardzhiev works for a Kimura but lets it go. Miranda trying to land strikes from the bottom but is unsuccessful. Samardzhiev lands some huge hammer fists. Miranda scrambles but Samardzhiev keeps control. More hammer fists and elbows from Samardzhiev. The face of Miranda started to swell as the round ends. Samardzhiev was slow to get up and may be running out of gas.

Round 3: Miranda come out aggressive but gets taken down again. Samardzhiev lands hammer fists and elbows. Miranda scrambles to his feet but slips back down and Samardzhiev jumps on him. Samardzhiev lands some knees to the body and continues pounds down on Miranda. Samardzhiev desperately working for the finish in the final seconds but didn’t get it.

Winner: Samardzhiev via Unanimous Decision

Mexico vs. Kazakhstan

155 lbs: Mexico’s Dave Courchaine (5-4) vs. Kazakhstan’s Ardak Nazarov (3-1)

Round 1: Dave very confident in striking. Landing kicks and combos. Nazarov looked very tentative until landing a beautiful left/right combination that dropped Dave, who immediately covered up in pain forcing the stoppage.

Winner: Nazarov via knockout (1:27, round 1)

130 lbs(Catchweight): Mexico’s William Fisher (1-3) vs. Kazakhstan’s Kazybek Ashimov (3-1)

Round 1: Ashimov trips Fisher down and rolls him into a guillotine. Fisher gets out and Ashimov immediately grabs an arm and locks in the Armbar and Fisher quickly taps.

Winner: Kazybek Ashimov via Armbar (:56, Round 1)

Special attraction: Submission Grappling

130 lbs: Mexico’s Daniel McClung vs. Kazakhstan’s Begnar Amanbayev

Round1: Begnar with the early takedown. McClung rolls over and Begnar locks in a tight Guillotine that forces the tap.

Winner: Amanbayev via Guillotine Choke (1:14, Round 1)

Special Attraction: Boxing

140 lbs: Mexico’s Frankie Martinez vs. Kazakhstan’s Zhankosh Turarov

Round 1: Martinez not doing much. Turarov puts pressure on him. Easily takes the round with jabs and nice combos.

Round 2: Martinez landing more strikes though still getting out punched. Turarov takes another round with ease.

Round 3: Turarov continues to land at will. Turarov utilizing the jab effectively to keep Martinez at a distance. Martinez not doing much of anything to win this fight anymore.

Round 4: Beautiful combos by Turarov. Really turned it on in the final minute. Martinez just couldn’t get in the rhythm.

Winner: Turarov via Unanimous Decision
