I guess we all should have seen this coming, but Paul Daley (26-9-2) missed weight today at the BAMMA 5 weigh-ins. Today marked the fifth time the welterweight had missed weight, having also weighed in over the limits at MFC 19, MFC 20, UFC 108 and Shark Fights 13.

The fight was supposed to be a welterweight title fight, but with Daley missing weight it will be changed to a three-round non-title fight and Daley will forfeited an undisclosed percentage of his purse to his opponent Yuya Shirai (20-8).

Daley initially weighed in two pounds over the 170 pound limit before coming back two hours later for his second attempt that put him 400 grams (.881849 lbs.) over the limit.

Daley had been tabbed as the next in line for a shot at the Strikeforce welterweight title against Nick Diaz should he can get past Shirai. No word from Scott Coker or Strikeforce on if that offer still stands now that Daley once again has missed weight.

BAMMA 5 takes place tomorrow at MEN Arena in Manchester, England, and will stream live on the promotion’s website, BAMMAtv.com.

On a side note, Ricco Rodriguez who was taking on James McSweeney in the night co-main event has also missed weight.
