UFC 130: Rampage vs Hamill Predictions

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns home this Saturday for UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill, after being on the road for nearly four months. Back in the cozy confines of the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, UFC 130 offers a solid card even though it’s been riddled with injuries up and down the card.

The biggest loss to the card was the main event and lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. Both fighters suffered injuries, including a back injury to the champion Frankie Edgar that forced the bout to be postponed. The withdrawal shock up the fight card causing three fights to be bumped up on the card.

Entering the main event slot was the light heavyweight fight between former UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill. While not as flashy as a third fight of an epic trilogy and title fight, it’s also not a horrible fight and should be very entertaining. Both fighters are coming off big wins and will be looking to prove they are for real in the 205 lbs. division (Hamill) or ready for anything title run (Rampage).

With a bout off the main card the very intriguing welterweight match up between Thiago Alves and Rick Story was promoted from the Spike TV preliminary card to its rightful place on the main card. This fight has the making to be an epic fight of the night contest with a lot riding on it. Finally replacing the previous mentioned fight on Spike TV will be the Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove taking on Tim Boetsch in his middleweight debut.

UFC 130 has been criticized for it lack of “big fights” and numerous injuries, but this card offers up some intriguing matchups and potential slugfest’s. Let’s also not forget that fans will be once again any to watch every fight on the card on Facebook, Spike TV and PPV.
