Javier Torres’ TUF 13 Blog: An Ugly Episode All Around
The 13th season of The Ultimate Fighter is quickly coming to an end. This week’s episode featured the last two semifinal fights that were really entertaining but would unfortunately get overshadowed by two unfortunate events.
Fight #1 was a rematch from the opening round as Chuck O’Neil (Team Lesnar) looked to avenge his loss to Zack Davis (Team Dos Santos):
“This time Chuck did really well with his striking, going forward with a lot of punches and did a lot of damage to Zach. Like at the end of the first or beginning of the second he lost eye contact with the punches and couldn’t see the punches coming in. It was a good fight for Chuck he kept the fight standing and got the win. After the fight Zach was really devastated by the loss and crying.”

Zach Davis
Zach Davis got some really sad news after the fight that really hit the house hard. During the fight Zack suffered a torn retina in both of his eyes and needed laser surgery following the fight. When he got back to the house he informed the house the doctor told him he could never fight again.
“He was devastated and crying man, the guy is never going to fight again. I talked with back at the house and in the room after he came back from the doctor. His career is over and not too many people know this but he had surgery before coming on the show then right after he had surgery and the doctor said he could lose his eyes so he can’t fight anymore. I’m really sad about this, Chuck got the win and didn’t do anything wrong. Everybody in the house was really sad for him and they all felt bad. He was my best friend in the house but everything happens for a reason and I just talked to him a few days ago and he’s got a badass job right now.”
Fight #2 was a fight that probably should not have even happened between Tony Ferguson (Team Lesnar) taking on Ryan McGillivray (Team Dos Santos).
“In Ryan’s first fight when he got dropped he got a concussion and couldn’t sleep that night. Everyday he was having headaches and was really bad to the point the doctor said he shouldn’t fight for three months but they didn’t show any of that. He didn’t want to say anything but he told us and we could see it. And you saw it in the fight with Tony because one punch and he was down. Tony hit him with a good punch but he wasn’t right going into the fight. Before the fight he was doing no sparring since that first fight, he’d only do cardio because the doctor said he couldn’t get hit.”
Finally the black eye of not only this week’s episode but also the entire season, Tony Ferguson going crazy on Charlie Rader.
“It was Tony’s birthday so they where celebrating by drinking everything! It started out with Charlie and Len because Charlie was tired of Len’s act. That ended and Len went to bed and Chuck said to Charlie about pouring water on Tony’s head. That when Tony went after Charlie and they went over the table. That was like at 11pm and it went on tell like 3am. Tony brought up Charlie’s kids and I talked to him and tried to calm him down but after Charlie had gone back to the room with Shamar and Ryan to sleep but then came Tony again. It was a big fight man, Tony jumped in the pool and broke the microphone and there was no reason for him to say those things all for a little water over his head. The next day no one was talking to Tony but the guy just made a mistake, he was drunk.”
Javier will be back for next week’s final episode and will give his thoughts on the semifinals as well as the TUF 13 Finale.
