Javier Torres’ TUF 13 Blog: Finale Predictions

This season of the Ultimate Fighter we had the pleasure of Team Dos Santos fighter Javier Torres blogging after each episode. Giving readers a look at what happened throughout the season when the cameras were off and what was said behind closed doors.

The past nine weeks Torres has been living in the past, blogging about that week’s episode in which he actually lived through months ago. For his final blog he is turning the table and will live in the now and give his predictions on the four bouts that include his housemates.

Shamar Bailey (Team Dos Santos) vs. Ryan McGillivray (Team Dos Santos)

Ryan McGillivray

I think Shamar is one-dimensional (wrestling) and Ryan has more skills. I give the fight to Ryan by Decision because he has the better Jiu-Jitsu. Shamar’s punches don’t really hurt at all and his kicks are also really weak. Ryan is more of a well-rounded fighter and he’ll take the unanimous decision.

Clay Harvison (Team Lesnar) vs. Justin Edwards (Team Dos Santos)

Justin is a really tough guy that is going to come straight ahead looking to take the fight to the ground, he has good wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. Clay has really good striking and hopefully he moves a lot, finds his range and distance. He Clay does that I’d give the fight to him, Justin keeps his hands low and doesn’t protect his face. I’d take Clay by Decision but if the fight goes to the ground Justin will win by 2nd round rear naked choke.

Chuck O’Neil (Team Lesnar) vs. Chris Cope (Team Lesnar)

Chris Cope is getting better and better every time but so has Chuck. It’s going to be a stand up fight. Chuck will try to take down Chris but he has good defense. I give the fight to Chuck, he’ll get at least one takedown, do better in the striking and either get a 2nd round submission or 3rd round TKO.

Ramsey Nijem (Team Dos Santos) vs. Tony Ferguson (Team Lesnar)

Tony Ferguson

Well Ramsey is not the best striker, he throws crazy punches here and there but Tony has the better striking, better boxing, better kicks. They don’t show too much of Tony’s wrestling but I think he’ll try and keep the fight standing. Ramsey is a good wrestler and will look to take the fight down and ground and pound. This fight is going to be really good and I think it will be a decision for whoever wins. I think Tony might win but Ramsey is my teammate so I’m going to pick him.

What’s next for Javier Torres?

Well I got a lot of offers already and right now I just want to get a lot of experience. I came into the house as the least experience and I want to get a few fights and you’ll see how much better I am. I also think that cutting to 170 was really hard for me and I lost a lot of muscle so I’m going to fight at 185 lbs. for now and maybe work my way down to 170 lbs. We learn from our mistakes and I believe I can do better and come back stronger. I have a lot of offers though; it’s all about getting more experience. I feel really blessed to be a part of the season and make friends with all the guys. I talk to them all the time and many will be here for the fights this weekend.

I’d like to thank…….

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
