The New York based Friday Night Fights will be bringing back their very popular 8 man tournament on July 22nd. The event, which takes place at the Broad Street Ballroom, has been appropriately named “8-1 – The Friday Night Fights 8 man tournament”.

It will be the third time the promotion has put on the single night tournament and first time since 2009. As New York is still one of the States that have not legalized Mixed Martial Arts, Friday Night Fights promote Boxing and Muay Thai at both the professional and amateur levels.

The tournament though will be held under Muay Thai rules and feature fighters from all over the country. Only half of the field has been announced but the tournament currently features Hiro Perera (Washington, DC), Phillip LeGrand (Brooklyn, NY), Mike Dougherty (Ottawa, Canada), Diarmade McGregor (Boston, MA).

The card will also include several super bouts including the long-awaited Muay Thai match between Alex Berrios vs. Rigel Balsamico.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
