Coming out of the eighth season of the Ultimate Fighter, Shane Nelson opened his UFC career with back to back wins against George Roop and Aaron Riley. Nelson would lose his next two fights inside the Octagon and at 2-2 in the UFC, he was released.

After Nelson was released he would not step back into a cage for 15 months. Not because he was injured though, Nelson wanted to work on improving his game. “I wanted to get back in the gym and work on some weaknesses, I wasn’t in a rush,” Nelson explained.

In March Nelson made his successful returned to action at Nitro 2: Throwdown when he defeating Jai Bradney via second round submission. The results backed the hard work Nelson put in during the long layoff but Nelson admits to battling the hidden enemy known as ring rust. “Yea I had a little ring rust, and some jet lag from the trip but was very happy to get the win,” describes Nelson.

With the ring rust knocked off Nelson takes on former King on the Cage champion Aaron Wetherspoon in the main event at tonight’s Shark Fights 18. After a long layoff himself, Wetherspoon returned to action in February where he won a unanimous decision over Nick Reale. There might not be much footage out of Wetherspoon, Nelson knows he likes to stand and tells the fans to expect “a good fight. I am going to go out there and leave it in the cage and get the win.”

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
