The season 5 Bellator heavyweight tournament appears to have lost its second semifinalist this weekend, resulting in a completely new semifinal bout at Bellator 56. Following Thiago Santos stepping in for Mike Hayes after he was not medically cleared to fight, former finalist Neil Grove appears to be stepping back into the Bellator heavyweight tournament.

“I just received a private message from the CEO of Bellator Fighting Championships, Bjorn Rebney, that another injury, has given me a 2nd chance back into the HW Tournament! Thank you! I promise to show up this time, even better than what you’ve seen in previous fights of mine,” said Grove via his Facebook account on Saturday.

Bellator has yet to officially confirm the news but Grove told MMAValor.com today that he’s been told he’ll be facing Thiago Santos on October 29th. Santos was scheduled to face the undefeated Bulgarian Blagoi Ivanov but all signs now point to him facing Grove for a spot in the finals.

The South African had hoped to earn another shot at Cole Konrad and his Bellator heavyweight title by winning the tournament. His loss to Hayes at Bellator 52 in the opening round of the tournament had shattered those dream until now, with the second chance at the tournament that dream is now still alive.

In the other heavyweight tournament semifinal bout, Eric Prindle will take on the heavy-handed Ron Sparks.
