MMA Fighter Rankings for November 2011

| November 2, 2011 | Reply

October was supposed to have three UFC title fights but unfortunately Georges St. Pierre got injured and had to withdraw from his UFC 137 title fight. The other two title fights saw the champs leave the Octagon with their belts, while the challengers dropped down in the rankings.

This month’s rankings saw two fighters leapfrog into the #2 position and another fighter fall off the list, allowing for a first timer to hit the ranks.

Coming off his loss to lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard dropped into the #3 spot making room for the Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez at #2. Melendez is scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal in December in what could possibly be his last fight in Strikeforce before joining the UFC.

Kenny Florian lost his third bid to become a UFC champion at UFC 136 against the featherweight champion Jose Aldo. The loss dropped the previously ranked (#5) Florian off the list and made room for Bellator’s quickly rising featherweight Pat Curran, who won the season 4 tournament and is now waiting for his title fight following the yet to be schedule Joe Warren vs. Patricio Freire rematch.

Following his UFC 137 main event win over BJ Penn, Nick Diaz not only secured himself a title shot against GSP but also passed Jon Fitch into the #2 spot in the ranks. While Fitch hasn’t fought in a while he is also coming off a fight with Penn in which ended in a draw. Fitch is scheduled to fight at UFC 141 in December against Johny Hendricks and depending on the outcome might give Diaz a run at that #2 spot.

November has two title fights on tap, one in the UFC and one for Bellator. There is also a couple fights that potentially number one contender fights and will surely change the look of the ranks next month.

As always the goal here is to give you the best rankings that we can provide you with and of course a spot below for you to disagree and complain. So without further ado here is the latest MMAValor.com fighter Rankings:
