UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann Live Results(UPDATE)

UFC on FX: Alves vs Kampmann takes place from the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australlia and features 4 bouts on the Main Card.

Headlining the even will be Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann. Both fighters are coming off big wins and will look to continue thier streak and get another step closer to a shot at the UFC Welterweight Championship.

The UFC will also kick off it’s Flyweight tournament as Joseph Benavidez takes on Yasuhiro Urushitani and Demetrious Johnson takes on Ian McCall. The winners will face off at later date to crown the UFC’s first ever Flyweight champion.

Preliminary card (Facebook)

265 lbs.: Oli Thompson vs. Shawn Jordan – Jordan finishes Thompson with a nice uppercut in the 2nd round to stun him. Drops him with follow up shots and the bout is called off. Jordan via TKO at 3:53 of round 2.

145lbs.: Mackens Semerzier vs. Daniel Pineda – Pineda defeated Semerzier via submission (triangle armbar) at 2:05 of round 1

170 lbs.: TJ Waldburger vs. Jake Hecht – Waldburger defeated Hecht via submission (armbar) at 0:55 of round 1

185 lbs.: Kyle Noke vs. Andrew Craig – Craig defeated Noke via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

145 lbs.: Cole Miller vs. Steven Siler
Round 1: Feeling out process to begin. Siler lands some nice leg kicks against Miller. Clinched against the cage as Miller reverses and lands some knees to the leg of Siler. Miller tries landing a kick of his own and it’s grabbed and he eats a punch and slips to the ground. Siler lets him back up and they continue. Siler throws a head kick and it’s blocked. Siler is mixing up his strikes, feinting and landing his leg kicks. Miller starts to work the jab and lands a nice right hand as Siler pushes Miller to the fence with a body lock but can’t do much with it. Miller lands a nice right hand and Siler lands two of his own as Miller circles. Siler gets another body lock and pushes Miller against the fence, but Miller counters it well and they break. Siler looks to have Miller rocked with a nice uppercut and is chasing him trying to land. Miller shoots in for a late takedown, but Siler attempts a guilitone and ends up on top as the round ends.

Round2: A bit quicker start as Siler lands a few good shots on Miller and tries to push him against the cage. They break and Siler lands several punches to the head and body of Miller who can’t seem to find his way with Siler’s striking. Miller is now working for a clinch and finally is able to drag Siler to the ground with a good trip, but Siler is back up. Both fighters are working in the clinch. Siler lands 3 nice jabs to the head of Miller. Miller lands a nice uppercut to the chin of Siler and another one to the side of the head. With Siler’s back against the cage, Miller lands several good shots as Siler tries to answer, but Miller avoids most of the shots while landing his own. Miller seems have found his way again as he’s landing some shots on Siler now. Good body shot lands for Siler. Now Siler is putting on the pressure as he lands a nice 1-2 on Miller. Miller with a Thai clinch but can’t land too much as Siler throws a strike on the break. Miller pushes Siler against the cage, but isn’t landing much as the round ends.

Round 3: Siler continuing where left off, really landing good punch combinations on Miller. Miller just can’t use his jab and land anything. Siler landing good shots to the head and body of Miller. Siler looks for a takedown but it doesn’t come close. Miller lands a left but it doesn’t phase Siler. A front kick lands for Miller. Clinched against the cage as Miller is looking for the Thai Clinch with Siler’s back against the cage. Miller lands a jab and gets a body lock and pushes Siler against the cage. Miller lands some knee to the leg of Siler. Siler is looking a little tired and Miller is pushing, but needs to find a way to finish. Miller gets the takedown and is in Siler’s half guard. Big shots by Miller on top, and moves to mount. Miller looking for a submission, but can’t get it. Siler pushes Miller back to his guard and that’s where the fight ends. Great fight, but Siler should have this edged.

205 lbs.: Anthony Perosh vs. Nick Penner

Round 1: Perosh seems to be waiting for an opening, tentative to start off the fight. Perosh pushes forward, landing an overhand right, but can’t keep a grasp of Penner as he’s able to shrug him off. Penner looks to have been cut by that right hand. Perosh finally dives in and is able to get Penner on the ground. Perosh unloading on top, but Penner pulls off a nice scissor sweep and is back on his feet. Perosh bulls into the clinch again and looks for double underhooks on Penner. The Canadian breaks free, but Perosh lands a hard knee on the exit that has Penner wincing. Perosh lands another overhand right and gets another takedown on Penner, moving right into half guard where he gets busy with elbows. Perosh moves to side. Penner gets half guard back, but Perosh smoothly moves to mount. Penner is over matched on the ground and just getting punched repeatedly by Perosh. The Aussie goes for an arm-triangle to end the bout, but Penner defends wisely and exposes his back. Rather than keep trying for it, Perosh punches away with his right hand, landing clean on the face. Penner just lays there, waiting for the bell. Referee John Sharp warns him to defend, but Penner doesn’t. Sharp steps in with just one second to go in the round, giving Perosh the TKO win at 4:59 of the first round.
205 lbs.: James Te Huna vs. Aaron Rosa

Round 1: Rosa jabs at the air as Te Huna looks for inside low kicks. Te Huna lands a hard right, and bulls forward with heavy blows inside, backing Rosa up to the fence. Left hook for Te Huna lands on the break, and he’s all over Rosa. Rosa is getting torn with Te Huna’s right uppercuts and hooks. The left side of Rosa’s face is pouring blood as the crowd gasp with each salvo. A Rosa left hook lands on Te Huna and does absolutely nothing. Te Huna is like The Terminator now, walking forward and smashing Rosa with punches. The bloodied Rosa finally hits the mat off of a massive left. Te Huna goes down with him and continues to land right after right until the ref steps in to finally stop the fight at 2:08 of the first round.

Main card (FX)

185 lbs.: Court McGee vs. Constantinos Philippou

Round 1: Match-up between The TUF Season 11 winner and the Serra/Longo fight team stand-out is under way with as John Sharp as our referee. Touch of the gloves as McGee takes the center of the cage. Slow start as both guys just measuring, Pilippou is moving side to side, fans are getting restless as Court dives with with a right as it lands. Philippou lands now as his back is near the cage and it forces McGee back and another lands. Philippou landing some nice shots as an uppercut lands and has McGee staggering back a bit. McGee recovers and lands a few of his own and a kick that is blocked. A High kick is thrown by McGee and he gets countered by a stiff right cross by Pilippou. Nice feints by McGee as he mixes his levels. McGee comes in and lands two shots and backs out and follows it up with a low kick. Under two minutes and Philippou lands a nice hook. Philippou lands nice stiff shots to the head of McGee who gets staggered back a bit but keeps his composure. McGee throws out his jab and tries to go in for a takedown and can’t get it. Switch kick lands from McGee along with a hook. McGee tries another double leg but he’s shrugged off by Philippou. Nice Left by McGee lands and they trade back and forth to end it. Great opening round.

Round 2: Round 2 starts off with Philippou landing a nice left hook that has McGree backing up. McGee tries to answer with a combination of his own along with a head kick but can’t land much. Both guys getting into exchanges up close, but nothing landing completely clean. Philippou liking that cross as it’s landing. McGree tries another head kick that is blocked. Philippou is showing nice lateral movement in this fight. McGee tries to clinch and get the takedown but Philippou shows nice defense as he’s able to keep it standing. Philippou getting inside and landing on McGee. McGee lands another switch kick, 2 for 2 in this fight. A big uppercut catches McGee and McGree tries to go in for a takedown, now against the cage. A few small body shots and Philippou is able to swing out off the fence and take the center of the cage. McGee tries another desperate takedown, but it’s not even close. Philippou is landing his uppercut everytime McGee comes in as he’s ducking down and telegraphing it. McGee throws out the spinning elbow, but misses it. Great 2nd round from these guys.

Round 3: 3rd and Final round under way. McGee takes the center and they begin with punches in close. McGee seemed to land the better in the two exchanges with Philippou just missing. Nice body shot by Philippou but he can’t land the uppercut. McGee trying to put on the pressure lands a nice combination. And McGee lands a shot to the groin of Philippou. Short break and we’re back to it as McGee goes in for a takedown. Switches to a single, puts Philippou down, but Philippou pops right back up. McGee grabs the neck and tries a Guillotine, but Philippou throws him off. Another takedown and Philippou shoves him, then tries his own that as McGee falling back. Flying knee lands for McGee. Switch kick this time from Philippou that comes close. The two rising middleweights are putting on a show. McGee then goes for a spinning wheel kick and missed. Good left lands for Philippou but barely misses the uppercut. High kicked is blocked by Philippou. Phillippou finds a home for his right hand and McGee goes in for another takedown but can’t get it. McGee still trying to find takedowns, but can’t get them, not even close. Spinning back fist near the end of the round they finish in the clinch. Good opening fight for the main card.

125 lbs.: Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall

Round 1: Fast paced action to start from the debut of the Flyweight division. McCall gets a great takedown on Johnson and passes to side control. Johnson reverses the position and puts McCall on his back, but now they find themselves back up. Good right land lands for Johnson and they clinch, a trip try and they separate. Johnson lands a nice leg kick as the action is quick. Another great takedown by McCall lands him in halfguard, but Johnson is able to get back up and eats an elbow. They trade punches in close. Spinning back kick for Johnson, drives in for a leg and can’t get it. Johnson grabs another leg and lands a big right hand on McCall that backs him up. Johnson goes for another takedown and McCall defends and lands some hammer fists to the side of head and they get back up. A leg kick is check by Johnson and he throws up a high kick that is blocked. Johnson pushes forward and barely misses a shot to the head of McCall. And they face off as the round ends. Great job by both fighters.

Round 2: Fients from both fighters and Johnson lands a nice leg kick. Big right hand lands for Johnson and he tries a single, can’t get and they trade with McCall’s shots backing up Johnson and they circle again. McCall throws a leg kick and it’s checked and Johnson throws a nice right that lands. Both guys are landing as they come in. McCall throws a low kick, but it lands a bit too low and catches McCall below the equator. They are back after a short break and the pace is still high. As Johnson comes in he is throwing what he can and backing out. McCall lands a nice low kick. They go back inside and land on each other again. Johnson throwing out his jab. McCall lands a stiff jab on Johnson as he backs away. A low kick hits McCall in the groin but he shakes it off and they go back to work. McCall goes for a takedown, they go against the cage. Johnson drops for a takedown and McCall makes him eat a few knees. Exchange of elbows as they break. High kick doesn’t land clean for Johnson. They are against the cage again as McCall and Johnson land. From inside the clinch, McCall lands an inside trip, but Johnson pops back up. Johnson now pushes McCall against the cage. Low kick lands as the rounds comes to an end. This fight hasn’t slowed yet.

Round 3: A knee from Johnson leads to a takedown from McCall as he lands some elbows. Johnson trying to work a wizzer and it finally able to get back to his feet. Tries a takedown, but can’t get it. McCall lands a nice suplex and puts Johnson down. McCall gets the back of Johnson and is working some ground and pound. Johnson is flat on his back. Elbows and punches are landing, McCall gives up the back mount, to a cross position, a few knees to the body, and they are back up. McCall tries a throw but Johnson with great balance and they separate. Johnson flips over McCall as he tries a double, but it allows McCall to get on top. McCall nows finds himself in mount. McCall is work, while Johnson is wrapping him up. Johnson flips over and is just eating blows. McCall looking for the finish, but Johnson makes it to the bell. What a fight!!!

UPDATE: According to the Athletic Commission and the UFC, The scorecards for the McCall/Johnson fight were scored incorrectly. The Correct results should have been 28-28, 29-29, 29-28, and should have been ruled a Majority Draw.

125 lbs.: Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani

Round 1: And our second flyweight fight of the evening starts off with a quick pace. Both fighters are landing shots as the other comes in. Both southpaws and a nice right hook from Urushitani. Benavidez looks in for a clinch with Urushitani against the cage. Still clinched with Benavidez working some nice knees and Benavidez tries a nice should throw and Urushitani gets up immediately. Benavidez working himself inside, looking for a takedown fighting through the punches of Urushitani, trying for a single and now switches to a double.  Urushitani showing off good hips, but Benavidez drags him down with a nice takedown, now in the half guard. Benavidez goes to the mount and now the back on Urushitani, great grappling work from the Team Alpha Male fighter. Benavidez as the rear naked choke in, but can’t force the tap as the round ends.

Round 2: Benavidez fakes a shot and lands a nice right hook off the kick of Urushitani and just begins throwing as much as he can as Urushitani is sprawled out on the ground. Benavidez scores the TKO victory in the 2nd round.

170 lbs.: Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann

Round 1: Herb Dean is our referee for the Main Event and he actually gets a nice cheer from the crowd. And away we go with a touch of the gloves. Alves takes the center who is stalking and Kampmann lands a nice counter off a kick, but Alves lands a nice leg kick with Kampmann backing up, then follows up with some nice strikes. Kampmann grabs a leg and tries for a single leg, but can’t get him down and forces Alves against the cage. Kampmann drags Alves down, but Alves gets right back up and lands a nice kick. Kampmann lands a nice Front kick that has Alves back up and drags him to the ground. Kampmann in the half guard of Alves. Nice knee by Kampmann as they get back up. Alves circles away, but he looks fine. Kampmann checks a leg kick and they clinch with Alves’ back agains the cage. Kampmann tries to takedown and gets taken down himself with a nice trip. Alves working from the open guard of Kampmann. Kampmann trying to sit up and work, but gets passed and Alves is now in the side mount. Good work on the ground as Alves is put back into halfguard. Alves is able to get the mount now as Kampmann looked for a sweep. Alves not really striking, but then throws a nice elbow. Alves throwing some small shots, not too much, but Kampmann can’t seem to find a way to get Alves off him. With the time running down, Alves pushes up to throw, and Kampmann escapes out the back door to end the round.

Round 2: Kampman works his way inside, he seems comfortable there but Alves shows his strength and shrugs it off. Alves tries to throw strikes back up but is pushed against the cage and circles off it before Kampmann can do much. Alves throws out his jab and Kampmann tries to answer but misses a big knee. Alves lands a nice stiff left hand and avoids any damage. Alves getting inside and landing his shots and Kampmann is eating them. Kampmann shots in and drives Alves to the fence, but is working hard for a takedown, but can’t get it. Kampmann throws a high kick that misses. Kampmann can’t seem to find his rhythm and is eating shots from Alves including those hard leg kicks. Right hand is finding it’s home from Alves. Alves doing a good job of avoiding the counter shots from Kampmann. Kampmann tries a head kick, but misses again. Left hook from Alves lands. Kampman lands a flurry and then a knee. They finish the round against the cage, but not too much action, Alves looking good so far.

Round 3: Kampmann a little bloody as we start the 3rd. Alves lands another leg nice leg kick. Alves eats a nice counter punch from Kampman and tries for a double, but it’s reversed and he finds himself against the cage. Kampmann working, but can’t get his other underhook and they seperate. Kampmann lands a few shots and they go back against the cage. They separate again, and Alves throws a big right and is partially blocked by Kampmann. 3 minutes left as Alves has outlanded Kampmann big in this fight. Another nice leg kick lands from Alves. Weak body kick by Kampmann and he gets countered by a straight from Alves. Under two minutes left in the fight and Kampmann needs to find a desperation to finish. Tries a body lock but can’t get it. Inside leg finds the mark from Alves. Kampmann can’t seem to find anything and Alves lands a nice right that hurts Kampann, but Alves goes for a takedown and it gets reversed and Alves finds himself stuck in a Guillitone. It’s deep and Alves is forced to tap out with under a minute left in the round.
