Just days after the UFC announced that Jose Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion would be taking on Erik Koch in the UFC 149 main event, tickets for the event will go on sale this week. The event will take place Saturday, July 21st from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and will be the promotions first trip to Calgary.
Aldo (21-1) will be making his fourth defense of the UFC featherweight belt and the sixth overall between the UFC and the WEC. After back to back unanimous decision wins in his first two UFC title defenses, Aldo made a BIG statement his last time out with a brutal first round knockout of Chad Mendes at UFC 142. The Nova Uniao fighter hasn’t lost since November of 2005 and is currently on a 14 fight winning streak.
Koch (13-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Brookins last September to extend his own winning streak to four. The only loss on Koch’s record came via Chad Mendes by decision in 2010 under the WEC banner.
