Mike Swick set to return to action at UFC on FOX 4
The last time Mike Swick set foot inside the UFC Octagon was February 6, 2010. The AKA fighter, who participated in the first season of the Ultimate Fighter, has been battling illness and injuries for the last 27 months.
Baring another setback, Mike Swick will make his return at UFC on FOX 4 against fellow Ultimate Fighter alum, DaMarques Johnson. The card is scheduled to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on August 4th and their welterweight bout will most likely appear on the night’s preliminary card.
Swick (14-4) lost to Stephan Bonnar in the Ultimate Fighter semi-finals but fought on the season finale, where he won just 20 seconds into the first round. Earning the nickname “quick” at that point, Swick has fought 12 times in the UFC with a solid 9-3 record.
Johnson (16-10) was the season 9 runner-up, losing to James Wilks by 1st round submission in the finals. Johnson last fought on the UFC on Fuel TV 2 card against John Maguire, losing via second round submission. Having alternated wins and loses in his last six fights, Johnson in 4-4 overall in the UFC.
Both fighters will come into this bout needing a win but for Mike Swick to just enter the Octagon would be a victory in itself.
