Yoislandy Izquierdo and Rafaello Oliveira meet at UFC 148

Two fighters looking to rebound from disappointing losses will meet up in the cage at UFC 148 as Yoislandy Izquierdo will take on Rafaello Oliveira in a Lightweight clash. UFC 148 will take place in Las Vegas on July 7th and will coincide with the UFC Fan Expo.

The match was announced by Izquierdo’s management, Mundus Sports Management via their facebook page.

Oliveira will be looking for his first win since resigning with the promotion back in May 2011, losing to Gleison Tibau and in his most recent outing, Yves Edwards. Oliveira went 1-2 in his first stint in the UFC after being cut following a loss to Andre Winner. Oliveira followed up the loss with four wins in regional promotions, including two fights in his native Brazil before getting a 2nd opportunity with the promotion.

Yoislandy “Cuba” Izquierdo finally made his UFC debut at UFC on Fuel 2, following a hard-fought battle with Florida’s CFA, where he was the Lightweight champion. Cuba won his first six pro fights before dropping his first loss in his debut against Reza Madadi via submission.

The fight will be apart of the preliminary fight card of UFC 148, which is headlined by the rematch between current UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva and the number one contender, Chael Sonnen. Urijah Faber and Renan Barão will also battle for the UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship in the co-main event.
