UFC 149: Faber vs Barao Bold Predictions

Saturday’s UFC 149 is probably the most changed UFC fight card in recent history. Between all the injuries and shuffling around, the card has seen nearly every fight different from originally announced including the loss of the featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Eric Koch. Surprisingly though the UFC pulled it all together and UFC 149 has transformed into a solid fight card.

Headlining the UFC 149 card is the bantamweight interim title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao that was originally scheduled for the UFC 148 card. When UFC 149 lost its main event the UFC pushed this bout back to fill the void. Faber was supposed to face Dominick Cruz after the two coached the last season of The Ultimate Fighter but the injury bug bite the bantamweight champion once again. Faber and Barao will now face off for the interim belt in a bout that pits one of the most beloved fighters against the man with the longest current unbeaten streak in MMA at 29.

Speaking of unbeaten streaks, Hector Lombard will be making his long-awaited UFC debut in the UFC 149 co-main event against Tim Boetsch. The former Bellator middleweight champion will bring a 25 fight unbeaten streak into the fight and come earn a title shot with a win. Boetsch will be looking to play the role of spoiler as he comes into the fight unbeaten as a middleweight at 3-0.

The UFC 149 fight card will open up on Facebook with two bouts before FX completes the preliminary portion of the card beginning at 5pm PT / 7pm ET. The night’s five bout main card will air on PPV starting at 7pm PT / 10pm ET.

Last week’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy card served up a home run for the predictions as we knocked it out of the cage going 8-1 to bring the overall record to 121-83 (59%). We’ll try to keep that momentum going here:
