Scott Jorgensen UFC on FOX 5Today’s UFC on FOX 5 card has been hyped as the greatest MMA fight card on Network television and the only bout not on TV turned out to be a barn burner. The night opened with one bout streaming Live on Facebook between bantamweights Scott Jorgensen and John Albert. Though their bout lasted one second under a round, it was an exciting start to the UFC on FOX 5.

Scott Jorgensen (14-6) came out with an early takedown on John Albert (7-4) and the fighters would never get back to their feet. Albert was very aggressive off his back, fishing for submissions while dodging the elbows from his opponent. Albert pulled off a slick sweep that started a great bit of ground work by both fighters that saw Jorgensen regain top position. As the round came to an end Albert looked to get back to his feet and in doing so gave up his back. The former bantamweight title challenger jumped on the opening and locked on a rear naked choke that forced Albert to tap with less the one second left in the round.

Scott Jorgensen defeated John Albert by 1st rd. Rear Naked Choke Submission (4:59)

The win by Jorgensen to open the UFC on FOX 5 snaps a two fight losing streak to end 2012 on a high note. For Albert the loss gives him three in a row but two of those came in exciting bout against top ranked opponents, while the other was controversial. Albert is now just 1-3 inside the Octagon after the loss at UFC on FOX 5 and his job is likely hanging on a thread.
