246_UFC Fight Night 28The UFC is once again raking up the frequent flyer miles as they return to Brazil for tomorrows UFC Fight Night 28. If you’re thinking to yourself didn’t we just do this, the answer would be yes because UFC Fight Night 28 is the third UFC event in the last seven days.

While a large portion of the fight card will leave you scratching your head at who these guys are, the top three bout make up for the lack of name recognition.

Headlining the UFC Fight Night 28 card will be a light heavyweight bout between rising star Glover Teixeira and former Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader. The Brazilian Teixeira has won 19 straight fights and is making his way up the UFC light heavyweight division. Bader is coming off an injury that pulled him out their originally scheduled bout at UFC 160. He is coming off a submission win over Vladimir Matyushenko and his only defeats have been to former or future champions. A win by Teixeira could put him in line for a title shot in 2014.

The UFC Fight Night Co-main event feature middleweight top dog Yushin Okami against the former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo Souza. Okami brings the combination of size and strength that have given fighters trouble inside the Octagon. If his striking isn’t working he can always fall back to his smothering top game. Souza though would likely welcome such a gameplan though as his 14 career submission show. This bout is a chess match that could go anywhere inside the Octagon, where is goes though is something we’ll have to watch and find out.

The third bout of the trifecta is a flyweight bout that should garner “fight of the Night” awards. Top ranked Joseph Benavidez takes on Jussier Formiga. A win by either fighter could vault them into a title fight against Demetrious Johnson who already holds a win over Benavidez. The Team Alpha Male fighter looked impressive in his last fight, knocking out Darren Uyenoyama with a body kick.

At Saturday’s UFC 164 I was able to go 9-3 to left the overall standings to 170-88 (66%). UFC Fight Night 28 is tough to predict due to the unknown factor of some fighters on the card but with that said, here are the predictions.
