September 2011: Five Fights you must Watch or you’ll Regret it

September marks the beginning of the regular season for both College and Pro Football, but in Mixed Martial Arts there is no off-season. Another month jammed packed full of fights is already in full swing (OneFC Kicked things off with a vengeance earlier today) and with that said, here goes an attempt at picking just five fights that you should keep you're eye on. Please believe there are plenty more where this came from which makes these five fights all the more important as we prepare for another fall full of fight!

Reagan Penn Set For Pro MMA Debut at ProElite: Arlovski vs. Lopez

Reagan Penn, the youngest brother of former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion B.J. Penn, will make his Professional MMA debut as part of the ProElite 1 card this weekend. Penn will be competing in the Welterweight division against Tennessee fighter Paul "The Grim Reaper" Gardiner. Gardner will enter the contest sporting a perfect 2-0 record and is known to finish his opponents with relentless blows from full guard.

No Shortcuts for TUF 10 Runner Up Brendan Schaub

There are some rare instances in competition where it doesn't always pay to win in the long run. Take TUF Season 10 for example and its runner-up Brendan Schaub for example. Had it not been for Nelson dropping Schaub with a temple shot at the TUF 10 Finale it makes one wonder if Schaub would be sitting as pretty as he is today.

Whats Next for the Cast of UFC Live 5: Hardy vs. Lytle?

When I think of the most entertaining cards top to bottom so far this year UFC Live 4: Kongo vs. Barry and now UFC Live 5: Hardy vs. Lytle come to mind. These Versus (NBC Sports Network)/ Facebook cards are on a hot streak reminiscent of those good old WEC cards we became accustomed to on those Thursday nights. Last night we saw some old WEC mainstays like Ben Henderson, Joseph Benavidez and Donald Cerrone all collect victories in entertaining fashion.

UFC 133: The Rebirth of Mike Thomas Brown

After dropping 3 of his last 4 fights under the Zuffa umbrella former WEC Featherweight Champion Mike Thomas Brown came into Philly with his back up against the wall at UFC 133. This is a guy who held a place on many folks Top 10 Pound 4 Pound List after his 2nd straight victory of Urijah Faber back in the Summer of 2009. Brown has since dropped one too many fights being pushed out of the Top 10 Featherweight Rankings and looking to save his job against Nam Phan on the Nights undercard.
