Mixed Martial Arts Rocks! I've been a fan of fighting since I was in my mother’s womb. I came into this world fighting and I’ll no doubt leave it fighting. I studied martial arts under my father since before I could walk and have been in love with all aspects of hand to hand fighting ever since. I studied martial arts under my father who was a brown belt in Judo and Karate, blended with his own style of street fighting, since before I could walk. When I finally found out there was something out there more than boxing I knew I’d become addicted. Watching and talking about all things MMA is something I do anyway, so writing just seems like the next natural step. I currently train at Rilion Gracie Jujitsu Academy, where I welcome all comers (as I am currently a white belt. With one stripe).
With an impressive win over the accomplished veteran Mike Pyle at last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 26: Sonnen vs. Shogun, Matt Brown has shot himself into the top ten of the Welterweight Division. But is it too soon for the UFC veteran of 16 (11-5) UFC fights to be calling out the champ?
Former Penn State wrestler Phil Davis will be taking on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Vinny Magalhaes this Saturday April 27th at UFC 159 in what is sure to be a great bout between two talented ground fighters.
Miesha Tate will be fighting against Cat Zingano at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale this Saturday. But there is more hanging in the balance than bragging rights or fighter’s pride. The winner of the second UFC women’s fight will go on to star opposite Ronda Rousey in next season’s Ultimate Fighter and eventually fight for her title.
Frankie Edgar (14-3-1) is a tough, determined fighter with a ton of heart. Edgar originally tried out for season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter, but was not selected into the house. However the exposure was enough to get him a fight with then undefeated Tyson Griffin at UFC 67. It’s during this fight that Edgar began to shine, receiving a unanimous decision victory over Griffin.
Anthony Pettis is looking to get a title shot by taking out Donald Cerrone at this Saturday’s UFC on Fox 6, but even with a win he might be waiting a long time.
There was a time when, if you wanted to get your MMA fix, you’d have to wait all week and pray there would be a pay-per-view event scheduled for that Saturday. The closest you would’ve got to watching MMA during your workweek was daydreaming about putting your boss in an armbar or suplexing him through a desk. But fear not MMA fans, those days or over! With all the MMA shows on TV nowadays you can watch MMA during the week and keep your job!
With Strikefore coming to an end this weekend, heavyweight sensation and grand prix winner Daniel Cormier will be adding absolutely nothing to his career by facing Dion Staring during its farewell event’ co-main event.
