TUF 14 Finale: Breaking Down Michael Bisping vs. Mayhem Miller

One of the best seasons in recent TUF history comes to a close tomorrow night in Las Vegas, Nevada where a bantamweight and featherweight season winner will be determined. After these men are given the glass plaque, six figure contract and accolades for the accomplishment, the real finale happens – Michael Bisping (21-3) vs. Jason Miller (24-7). Throughout the season, they got under each others skin and antagonized themselves with pranks, shouting and almost coming to blows, all while displaying a true passion and talent for coaching the men on their teams.

2011 is winding down and has been monumental for mixed martial arts. Icons were finished, veterans put on some of their best performances, champions were crowned in the face of adversity and some men have emerged from the shadows to the main stage of their respectful division. Looking back on the past year the bantamweight division is nothing new, it has just begun to take its true form under the UFC banner.

Giants are in the land and have begun to take the final steps towards their battlefield on a quest for the ultimate crown in MMA, the UFC heavyweight championship. Reigning as the current division king of the organization and arguably, all heavyweights in the sport is Cain Velasquez (9-0) who will be in his first fight in over a year, laid up for some time due to a shoulder injury sustained in claiming the championship back in October 2010. Across the mat will be his biggest threat to date, an equally fast, heavy-handed and determined challenger, Junior Dos Santos (13-1).

Renan Barao (27-1; 1 NC) may not be a name you are used to saying or hearing discussed among casual UFC fans but to the true MMA fan, Saturday night’s performance (also Fight of the Night) was nothing by mistake. Since turning professional in 2005, the only defeat he has suffered was his debut which ended in a split decision loss.
