This week’s MMA link club centers on the women of Mixed Martial Arts. With Ronda Rousey making her UFC debut next month she has an even bigger target on her back these days. It’s not just Rousey though, inside or outside the cage, women’s MMA is getting a lot of attention.

This past week was filled with MMA as Bellator opened their eight season on Thursday, Resurrection Fighting Alliance held their sixth event and the UFC was back in Brazil. Three days in a row of free on TV fights is never a bad thing. Oh and we get to practically do it all over again this week!

Well the end came for the once #2 MMA promotion this weekend with Saturday’s Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. The event saw a new middleweight champion get crowned, while showcasing several fighters that will now make the switch over to the UFC. Speaking of #2 MMA promotion, Bellator will be making their debut on Spike TV this coming week on a brand new night (Thursday).

The first week on the year seemed awfully quiet in the MMA world, maybe it was the holiday hangover but thankfully the weekend brought fans Invicta FC 4. This weekend though is when things really begin to take off in the month of January. Strikeforce will hold their final event on Showtime before the ZUFFA owned promotion rolls into the UFC.

The Final week of 2012 came and went, the over sized apple dropped in the “Big Apple” and the holiday season is over. For this week’s Independent MMA Link Club we are going to give you all a little bonus, not only will you get this week’s links but you’ll also giving you some year-end links as well.

So this week’s Independent MMA Link Club slipped a few days due to that whole Christmas thing but they often say “Better late than never”. We are just days away from Saturday’s UFC 155 that will close out one of the promotions strangest years to date.

Still recovering from the onslaught on MMA action this past weekend? Two UFC cards that crowned three new Ultimate fighter winners, Bellator 84 had another fight pushed back at the last-minute and Legacy Fighting Champion 16 all happened in a span on 24 hours.

This past week in MMA was a memorable one. The inspirational story of Nick Newell continues to grow as he won the XFC lightweight title, while the UFC put on a great free card on FOX. Throw in the highs and lows from Bellator 83 as well as all the MMA news this past week and you had yourself a stacked week.
