Every season of the Ultimate Fighter offers up a mixture of talent. You got the young talent looking to make a big splash, the fighters that have worked their way up the MMA ladder and then you there are the ones who’ve had a taste of the limelight and are looking to get back. The latter is where Kansas City, Missouri’s James Krause falls into.
After a two and a half-year layoff, Justin McCully is back and will be making his second trip back into the cage for Resurrection Fighting Alliance. The drive to compete and to test himself is what drew him back to fighting, after going just 2-2 in the UFC. The recently turned 36-year-old didn’t know what to expect when he got back in that cage, on December 16th, to face Justin Grizzard. What he got was a TKO win, a date to fight Derrick Lewis at RFA 2 and the confidence in knowing that he can still perform at a high level in MMA.
On tomorrows UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger card, nestled on the preliminary card is a bout featuring two middleweight fighters making their promotional debut. California’s Sean “The Destroyer” Loeffler, with 30 professional bouts under his belt will be taking on Jackson’s MMA product Buddy Roberts. Loeffler enters a division that already holds some of the most interesting characters the UFC has to offer and will fit right in with the best of them.
After making his promotional debut at SCC 3, Dominique Robinson (17-4) will be making his return to Vegas this week at SCC 4. Robinson is a very accessible fighter, even in the leading up to his fight he took the time to give us his thoughts on his career thus far, his general life and the state of MMA as of late. Mixed Martial Arts legend and former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz appears ready to hang them up. Having just one fight remaining on his current contract Ortiz has requested to end his career with a third bout against either Chuck Liddell or Forrest Griffin in July. Since the “Iceman” has already retired, that just leaves Ortiz with a rubber match against Griffin.
Since we are now one month removed from Christmas, I didn’t think I would have to think about elves until next December. Bryan “The Angry Elf” Lashomb is making me change that thought, however. On February 4th fans will see the undefeated pro take a giant leap up in competition as he fights for the vacant Flyweight title at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 13, in Atlantic City, NJ.
It’s amazing how fast time flies. It doesn’t seem that long ago when we watched the quirky Diego Sanchez on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Sanchez would go on to finals of the Middleweight tournament and pound Kenny Florian en route to a TKO victory. Since then Sanchez has managed to keep himself relevant in the UFC but not without having to face adversity.
Unlike many professional boxers who have publicly voiced their disdain for mixed martial arts, pro wrestlers have usually been complimentary of the sport. It’s common to see tweets from Jim Ross (former WWE announcer) giving his thoughts on a UFC Pay Per View. CM Punk recently planned on walking Chael Sonnen into the cage for the UFC on FOX 2 event.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

UFC on FUEL TV 4 Weigh-in Results and Photos
SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.

The long grind of the first live version of The Ultimate Fighter ends tonight at the TUF Live Finale in Las Vegas. Featuring 12 of the 16 TUF Live contestants, the 10 bout card will be headlined by an important match-up in the welterweight division between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann.
