The channel has already hosted preliminary action as well as numerous other UFC programming but they get the spotlight this time around. With five welterweight bouts on the UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit card, including an interim 170 lbs. title bout and three top five fighters in the division, the card could be nicknamed UFC: Welterweights. The division has been ruled by Georges St. Pierre since the end of 2006, with only a brief reign by Matt Serra mixed in there. On Saturday for the first time in years a welterweight not named GSP will have a UFC belt strapped around their waist, albeit an interim one at that.

The first official UFC on FOX card has finally arrived and despite a late change to the main card the UFC has put together a very competitive and meaningful card on FOX. The night’s main card will feature three fights on Fox following the seven bout preliminary card that will air on Fuel TX. Originally all three main card bouts held title shot implications for the winner, but an injury to Mark Munoz forced him out against Chael Sonnen and moved Michael Bisping up the card. Chris Weidman was then tabbed to replace Bisping, who was scheduled to face Demian Maia to open the main card.

UFC on FX 1 Bold Predictions

The UFC comes to Nashville, Tennessee this Friday for UFC on FX 1. The inaugural event on FX will feature four main card bouts headlined by a lightweight clash between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard. The night’s undercard which features six bouts will also air on free TV on the other FOX affiliate, Fuel TV.
