It’s been awhile, but Bellator MMA is back this week with another tournament and more MMA talent from near and far. Wednesday’s Bellator 96 event will kick off the Summer Series and fresh tournaments in the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight division, as well as the “much-anticipated” return of War Machine.
The main event of last night’s WSOF 3 had probably the craziest finishes you’ll ever see in MMA as welterweight Josh Burkman submitted Jon Fitch in walk-off style. There was no tap by Fitch, no stopping of the fight by the referee, only Josh Burkman rolling over and letting go his sleeping opponent.
In the main event of Last Night’s XFC 24: Collision Course, lightweight prospect Scott Holtzman remained undefeated and walked away with the XFC title around his waist.
Ok so tonight’s UFC 161 doesn’t have the interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao or the light heavyweight rematch between Shogun Rua and Antônio Rogério Nogueira. What tonight’s UFC 161 does have though are two former light heavyweight champions in the main event and a heavyweight bout that should bring fireworks.
The stellar World Series of Fighting promotion brought smart match-making, rising stars and familiar faces to the cage in Las Vegas for tonight’s WSOF 3. It was worth staying home on a Friday night, but if you missed it, here’s what went down inside The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel at WSOF 3.
Florida’s number one promotion, XFC put together a fantastic show of regional and international talent tonight with XFC 24. There were plenty of explosive strikes, gutsy performances and hair-raising moments, so let’s check out the action below.
The UFC had wanted to make a big splash on its first trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with UFC 161 and its interim bantamweight title fight. Unfortunately though, injuries to Renan Barao and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira spoiled those plans and completely reshaped the main card.
Bellator MMA CEO Bjorn Rebney has said on many occasions that Bellator would never become a feeder system for the UFC. He’s also stated that only under the right circumstances would Bellator sign fighter’s castoff by the UFC.
The UFC is racking up the frequent flyer miles once again as the promotion returns to Brazil with Saturdays UFC on FUEL TV 10, just three weeks after they left. The card as flown under the radar so to speak due to the event being tied to The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2 reality show. Many MMA fans outside of Brazil haven’t even seen an episode and other didn’t even know it was even on.
With three MMA events in the span of just over 24 hours this weekend, the sport will be on full display across many different platforms and networks.
It’s a busy weekend for fights, but World Series of Fighting is doing its best to stand out with Friday’s WSOF 3. We’ve got more than a few familiar faces at the top of the card and they’re all in some intriguing matches that will define this young company; putting asses in seats or making people change the channel.
With Bellator still on summer vacation it was up to the UFC and its fighters to potentially alter this month’s MMA fighter rankings. Since the last rankings came out there were three UFC events resulting in two new fighters breaking into their divisions top 5.
With Nick Newell avoiding a losing battle and bowing out of the promotion, the XFC Lightweight Title is up for grabs, as Scott “Hot sauce” Holtzman faces veteran fighter John Mahlow in the XFC 24 main event. More shining stars of XFC are on tap as well, so let’s dig into the action and see what’s going down on Friday.
World Combat Series is returning to the San Jose, California area on June 30th with a stacked WCS 11 fight card. Along with the amateur MMA card the Santa Clara Convention center will also play host to the massive FIT EXPO on June 29th and 30th.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.

The long grind of the first live version of The Ultimate Fighter ends tonight at the TUF Live Finale in Las Vegas. Featuring 12 of the 16 TUF Live contestants, the 10 bout card will be headlined by an important match-up in the welterweight division between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann.
