Fedor is coming to San Jose

The long talked about match up between Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum was finally given a date and event today. The two will fight to determine the number one contender at Heavyweight June 26th in the promotions hometown of San Jose, California. Originally thought to be taking place on the April CBS card the fight was moved back multiple times for undisclosed reason. Those issues have apparently been resolved and the two will headline the CBS broadcast on June 26th event.

Strikeforce: Nashville Predictions

With the lingering bad bad taste in our mouth from last weeks performance Anderson Silva put on Saturdays Strikeforce: Nashville can’t come fast enough. With three title fights this is by far the biggest Strikeforce event to date for the San Jose based promotion. The fact that its on CBS and not Showtime or PPV is awesome for fans yet a double edge blade for Strikeforce. With this big of a main card CBS will be looking for that to mean big numbers in terms of viewer / ratings. Some bad numbers and CBS might believe this is a no win situation and begin to look for a way out. The chances of this card not pulling big numbers though seems unlikely, especially with last weekends UFC 112 still fresh in every one’s minds.

Fedor and Overeem to meet in May

Too bad they won’t be fighting……..

The Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem after 30 months will finally defend his title in May. His opponent for the title fight will be Fedor….. wait I mean recently defeated by Fedor, Brett Rogers. REALLY! The number one contender and number one in the world Fedor Emelianenko will not be fighting for the belt? How is that we finally get Overeem back in the states to defend the belt and he is facing someone Fedor beat in his last time in the cage. For all we know Overeem won’t fight in the states again for another two and half years, if so what then?

Strikeforce April 17th main card Announced

Several fights were confirmed yet not officially announced by Strikeforce today, including three title fights for their April 17thevent on CBS. Originally thought to be headlined by Feder Emelianenko, that idea was nixed by M-1 over the weekend. Fedor is now scheduled to fight on the promotions card in May which will likely also be on CBS, his opponent will be Fabrico Werdum.

Strikeforce on tape delay. WTF!

Right now everyone not on the west coast is watching Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers on CBS. But if your on the west coast like me, you’re being forced to shut out the MMA community to hide from the spoilers. CBS for some stupid reason has the event on tape delay while they play re-runs of CSI: NY and NCIS: LA. There isn’t a good reason for this but I am more angered with Strikeforce then CBS as Strikeforce is a west coast promotion. They should know better then that, yet they are punishing their home fans for CBS. Grow some balls Mr. Coker and tell CBS no to tape delays on the west coast.
