Having learned from the folly of the previous UFC on Fox, we’re treated to three fights this time out on the main broadcast, as well as a packed Fuel TV undercard. The main event is a long time in the making it seems, as Rashad Evans once again tries to grab a title shot, taking on undefeated Phil Davis. On top of light heavyweight title implications, we’re also treated to a number one contender bout between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping as well as another solid matchup with Demien Maia facing Chris Weidman to open the Fox curtain.

The New Year didn’t seem to cure the injury bug that had plagued the UFC during stretches of 2011. Middleweight contender Mark Munoz was scheduled to face Chael Sonnen on January 28th to determine the next challenger to Anderson Silva. Unfortunately an injury has forced him off the card and it will now be Michael Bisping versus Sonnen for a shot at the middleweight title.

Brazilian submission specialist Rousimir Palhares (14-3) added yet another leg to his mantel of dismemberment submissions at Saturday’s UFC 142. Talking on Mike Massenzio as part of the main card on PPV, Palhares needed just 63 seconds to force a tap and bring the hometown crowd to their feet.

With UFC 142 only days away now it’s time to take a look at Anthony Johnson who is looking to make a run at the 185 lb. strap. This could be the best thing for him as he was never a natural welterweight and the massive weight cut would never favor him as a contender at 170 pounds, such abuse to his body leading up to the fight will never be a good thing.

Just over a week ago Brock Lesnar retired from MMA after being systematically taken apart by Alistair Overeem inside the first round. At this point Alistair’s win was overshadowed by Lesnar’s retirement from the sport, and the drama of the UFC losing one of its biggest PPV earners. Two middleweights looking to regroup from losses will face off at the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first trip into Sweden for the UFC on FUEL 2. Division contender and former WEC champion Brian Stann (11-4) will face the oft-injured Alessio Sakara (15-8) in what is expected to be the night’s main event.
