You’d have to go all the way back to MFC 9 and Patrick Cote for the last time Maximum Fighting Championship had a middleweight champion. Finally that statistic goes away tonight at MFC 35 when Elvis Mutapcic and Joseph Henle square off in the night’s main event.

Tomorrow night inside the Mayfield Trade and Conference Centre, Elvis Mutapcic and Joseph Henle will be fighting for the vacant Maximum Fighting Championship middleweight title. Today both fighters stepped onto the scales along with the rest of the fighters on tomorrow’s MFC 35: Explosive Encounters event.
MFC 34: Total Recall took place Friday night in Edmonton, Alberta at the Mayfield Trade Centre, and all of the main card fights aired live on AXS TV. The main event was a rematch between Mukai Maromo and Adam Lynn and it was supposed to be a 5 round title fight for the vacant lightweight belt. That all went out the window when Maromo missed weight and the fight was changed to a 3 round scrap.
The Maximum Fighting Championship had three fighters miss weight for Friday’s MFC 34: Total Recall event, including Adam Lynn who was scheduled to Mukai Maromo for the vacant MFC lightweight title. The fight will still take place but has now been reduced to a three-round, non-title fight.
After making one change to the MFC 34 lineup, Maximum Fighting Championship has finalized the lineup for the August 10th MFC 34: Total Recall lineup. The lone change to the lineup was Jason Zentgraf stepping in for Mike Kent to take on Cody Krahn in the opening televised bout at MFC 34.
It’s that time of the year, the time when everyone comes out with their “year end” awards. Maximum Fighting Championship has done this for several years and the Canadian promotion has expanded their awards to include Knockouts, Submissions and Fights of the Year, plus they’ve added a handful of one-off awards.
Last night Maximum Fighting Championship put on another solid event that made history with introducing the half point scoring system. Many of the fights ended early had didn’t need the new scoring system, but the main event for the MFC light heavyweight champion did come down to just a half a point.
