Heavy Artillerys Next Target

Saturday night was a big night for Strikeforce, and effectively put some new names into the casual MMA fans vocabulary. For the most part the favorites won in dominant fashion, but three names stuck out above the rest with seriously improved striking. Jacare Souza and Roger Gracie put on some great striking displays in both their fights, especially for being deadly B.J.J. practitioners. Also Antonio “Big Foot” Silva out struck and out boxed Andre Arvloski for three straight rounds when most MMA fans thought he could only win by a hard shot on AA’s suspect chin, which actually held up well. After an exciting night of fights and a rightful call out of Fedor Emelianenko by Alistar Overeem, what’s next?

On Satrurday the Strikeforce Heavyweight title will be on the line for the first time in 30 months with Alistair Overeem takes on Brett Rogers in the Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery main event. Overeem has been fighting oversea since then and no one other then him knows why he hasn’t defended the belt until now. Rogers is coming off a lose to the #1 heavyweight in the world Fedor Emelianenko but still go the first shot at the title. If you ask Overeem that’s because Fedor has been ducking him for years but who knows.

His opponent for the title fight will be Fedor….. wait I mean recently defeated by Fedor, Brett Rogers. REALLY! How is that we finally get Overeem back in the states to defend the belt and he is facing someone Fedor beat in his last time in the cage. For all we know Overeem won’t fight in the states again for another two and half years, if so what then?
