On the heels of all this free UFC action, comes this Saturday’s UFC 156 PPV that is certainly worth the money. Defending featherweight champion Jose Aldo will return to the cage after a lengthy hiatus, taking on former Lightweight kingpin Frankie Edgar in our main event while Alistair Overeem will look to secure a title shot for himself against Bigfoot Silva in the Heavyweight division. Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will face off in a tilt at 205 pounds, while Jon Fitch and Demian Maia will clash in a grappler’s delight at Welterweight.

Well yet another year has come and gone, 2012 was an odd year for MMA but the year will not easily be forgotten. This year saw the UFC all over network TV, Bellator stumble its way into next year and smaller promotions like RFA, LFC and XFC make a name for themselves. After watching boxer Manny Pacquiao get completely leveled last weekend and his potential super fight with Floyd Mayweather go down the drain, MMA could see the same thing happen to their super fights.

Things have been slow the last few months with regards to change amongst the MMA rankings. Injuries to champions and top fighters along with dominate champions have limited the movement but things are beginning to pick up. In November the UFC saw one of its champions return to action after a long layoff due to injury and the final month of the year will see many highly ranked fighters step into the cage.
