Heavy Artillerys Next Target

Saturday night was a big night for Strikeforce, and effectively put some new names into the casual MMA fans vocabulary. For the most part the favorites won in dominant fashion, but three names stuck out above the rest with seriously improved striking. Jacare Souza and Roger Gracie put on some great striking displays in both their fights, especially for being deadly B.J.J. practitioners. Also Antonio “Big Foot” Silva out struck and out boxed Andre Arvloski for three straight rounds when most MMA fans thought he could only win by a hard shot on AA’s suspect chin, which actually held up well. After an exciting night of fights and a rightful call out of Fedor Emelianenko by Alistar Overeem, what’s next?

Strikeforce Post fight press conference Video

After a great night of fights Saturday Strikeforce held the typical post fight presser. They used it to quickly introduce two fighters that couldn’t make it to the morning news conference, Bobby lashleyand Roger Gracie. They then brought out fighters from the card including Scott Smith, King Mo Lawal, Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez, Jacare and Matt Lindland. They closed the night out with Cyborg Santos and Nick Diaz to announce their upcoming fights and what they thought about it. Below you can watch the Lawal, Thomson & Melendez, Smith and Diaz press conferences, also if you haven’t seen the weigh-in video you can check it out here.

Strikeforce Evolution weigh-ins

The weigh-ins for the Strikeforce Evolution event was held Friday at the San Jose Marriott and having been at the last weigh-ins (Carano vs. Cyborg), this one was much better organized. Granted there were half the people there this time and it was better spaced out, they did good. (Check out the Video after the jump)

They opened up with Herschel Walker being introduced to the Media and fans. He seriously already sounded as if he was punch drunk with words slurring together. He talked about training at AKA in San Jose and getting beat up by Cain Velasquez and Josh Koscheck. He’ll be ready for his first MMA fight on January 30th in Florida where he will officially become a Mixed Martial Artist.
