The historic day is finally here and all the hype and talk leading up to UFC 157 will give way to the action. The first preliminary fight takes place on Facebook at approximately 3:45pm PT / 6:45pm ET before they are completed on FX. The UFC 157 main card which is headlined by the first ever women’s bout inside the UFC Octagon will air on PPV starting at 7pm PT / 10pm ET.
The majority of the talk surrounding this Saturday’s UFC 157 has been about the first ever women’s MMA about and Ronda Rousey. This is not a bad thing at all as it brings some much-needed attention to women who compete in the sport. There is however more fights than just the UFC 157 main event and some of them are pretty good too.
History will be made in the main event of UFC 157, as Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche battle for the first Women’s title in the first UFC women’s bout. That’s hardly all that we have in store though, as Machida and Henderson battle for a title shot at 205lbs, and many interesting Strikeforce fighters invade the UFC.
While everyone wondered if Jeremy Stephens would be released from jail and fight Yves Edwards at UFC on FX 5, the rest of the fight card played out. While the drama behind the scenes unfolded the fighters inside the Octagon put on a solid card in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Get settled in for an exciting MMA filled Friday night that begins with the UFC on FX 5 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The free card begins with one fight on Facebook before the rest of the preliminary and entire main card are televised. The UFC on FX 5 main event features undefeated heavyweight Travis Browne taking on the man known as “big foot”, Antonio Silva.
Everyone loves Fridays because it’s the end of the work week but add a solid free UFC on FX 5 fight card to the mix and its darn near perfect. This will be the third weekend in a row with a UFC card and after last week’s Fuel TV card, its back to back free cards. Like last week, UFC on FX 5 will be headlined by two heavyweights trying to climb up the ladder towards Junior Dos Santos.
The UFC is in Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend for Tomorrow’s UFC on FX 5 event and today all but two of the fighters stepped onto the scale. Yes I said two fighters did not weigh-in today and that is because Dennis Hallman was so far over the limits that his fight with Thiago Tavares was scrapped.
After a bit of a drought with UFC action, we’re right in the middle of a flood with this Friday’s UFC on FX 5. Coming hot on the heels of a great card in England, FX will air a night of interesting mid-card bouts with some highly competitive match-ups. Our main event features a rising Heavyweight star in Travis Browne, as he takes a huge step up against the well-traveled Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
