A stacked Bellator MMA 97 main card closed out the promotions summer series with two title fights and two tournament finals. The promotions two most dominant champions were in action looking to stay undefeated and light heavyweight King Mo looked to earn a title shot.
Back from a long vacation, Bellator came back with a fury to heat up our Summertime MMA with tonight’s Bellator 96. With two tourneys in the works and some high-profile singles bouts, we had plenty of action in the cage, so check out the breakdown below if you missed out.
Four tournament bouts took place tonight at Bellator 90 setting up the finals in both the Welterweight and light heavyweight brackets. The four winners needed only a few minutes each to finish their fights in impressive fashion.
With Bellator finally in HD and the world paying attention, we’ve got some serious firepower on deck for Bellator 86 this Thursday. A welterweight tournament winner will get his shot at the title as another 170lb. tourney begins, plus the debut of King Mo makes this a night to remember.
The first month of 2013 starts out pretty slow in regards to MMA. Fans don’t get a major event until the second Saturday of the month when Strikeforce bids farewell with one final event on January 12th. It’s not until the third week when things really begin to pick up as Bellator’s eight season kicks off on Spike, The Ultimate fighter 17 begin and back to back Saturdays of UFC action.
Mark down another MMA fighter to make the jump to pro wrestling. As first mentioned by Sherdog.com, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has signed a contract with both Bellator Fighting Championships and the wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action, WWE’s main rival in the wrestling world.
The topic of PED usage in the MMA community got more than its deserved share of press coverage this past year. Multiple positive test results coupled with suspension, and release announcements became what almost seemed like a monthly occurrence. Now, with the recent announcements of athletes like Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos and ‘King’ Mo Lawal testing positive for alleged steroid usage, it appears as though ZUFFA, the parent company that owns the UFC and Strikeforce assets are getting tougher on how the athletes will be screened when competing under contract for either organization.
The semifinal round of the Strikeforce Grand Prix is in the books and it time to move onto December’s Strikeforce event and the Grand Prix final in early 2012. Before we officially close the book on Saturday’s exciting card, the Ohio Athletic Commission and handed out it medical suspensions along with the reported fighters pay.

Last night the fighters for tonight’s Bellator 100 stepped onto the scales with all 24 fighters making weight. The historic 100th event for Bellator takes places tonight from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and features an all welterweight main card on Spike TV.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
UFC on FUEL TV 4 Weigh-in Results and Photos
SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
