After the confusing main event at UFC on FX 4 and the nameless UFC 147 card, it’s nice to see a quality PPV worth laying your money down on with UFC 148. But there’s also money to be made in the betting world if you know who to back, who to fade, and how to hedge. As this train wreck of a Heavyweight Grand Prix comes to a close, it really helps you appreciate that Bellator can put on so many snag-free tournaments. The UFC will once again invade the homes of unsuspecting viewers as UFC on FOX 3 kicks off with a monster card. Our main event features long-time LW contender Jim Miller, as he takes on the not-fit-for-network-television Nate Diaz. We also have a Welterweight bout of epic proportions, as Josh Koscheck takes on the gritty Johny Hendricks in a clash of national wrestling champs on the MMA stage.
It’s been a long time coming, but Rashad Evans finally gets his title fight, and we as fans actually get to SEE a title fight at UFC 145. Will Evans have what it takes to hand Jones his first legitimate loss, or will Jones further cement his place as a P4P great in the sport?
It was February 16th, 1996. The UFC was on the cusp of major reactionary law-making that would plunge the sport into the underground for years, though this was largely lost on me. Just your average everyday fight fan, I settled down in front of my Grandmother’s awesome projection TV with friends and family for our latest cage fight fix with UFC 8. We were ready to feast on the craziest concept to hit the UFC since……I guess the entire thing was still crazy at that point. The event was titled “David vs. Goliath” and while there were never any weight classes to begin with, the UFC was determined to throw that in our faces HARD.
Not since Cyborg vs. Carano has a female fight generated this kind of hype, yet here we are with a major female MMA bout. There has been a tremendous war of words between many fighters on this card and some of these fights could be straight-up magical. This is also one of the best betting cards we’ve seen in a long time, so let’s be sharp and hit a few of these gems for all they’re worth.
One of the best free cards we’re likely to see this year, the UFC hits Australia again to kick off their Flyweight tournament and highlight some Aussie talent.
