The UFC returns to the land of the rising sun this weekend with a card that has a little bit of everything for those in attendance as well as the viewers watching on TV. Headlined by a lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson, UFC 144 also has former Pride stars and several of the promotions top Japanese fighters.

The UFC on Fuel TV main card featured six bouts and got started out with a bang as Ivan Menjivar and John Albert put on an exciting 3:45 of action. The rest of the card, including the welterweight main event didn’t disappoint either.

Having already made their main card debuts on FOX and FX, the UFC will complete the trifecta this Wednesday with the UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger. The channel has already hosted preliminary action as well as numerous other UFC programming but they get the spotlight this time around. The night action on Fuel will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez, along with four other bouts.

The UFC comes to Nashville, Tennessee this Friday for UFC on FX 1. The inaugural event on FX will feature four main card bouts headlined by a lightweight clash between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard. The night’s undercard which features six bouts will also air on free TV on the other FOX affiliate, Fuel TV.

If you missed the news, Strikeforce has signed a new deal with Showtime and the promotion will put on up to eight shows next year. Before that new deal kicks into gear the promotion has one final event of 2011 this weekend as Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal hit San Diego, California.
