How often do you get to fight in a hanger these days? Not often for sure, but at Fight for the Troops, there was all kinds of action inside the base at Fort Campbell, and plenty of military men and women entertaining the soldiers. While most of the soldiers in the cage fell short of their goals of victory, there was plenty to see from a technical stand point on this card.

Tomorrow’s UFC Fight Night 31 marks the return of the UFC Fight for the Troops event. It’s been roughly 22 months since the last Fight for the Troops and let me say that it’s long over due and welcome back.
The UFC is pretty busy this week as they put on their third “Fight for the Troops” event Wednesday with UFC Fight Night 31 and then head to Brazil for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 32. Following a common theme of recent Fight Night events, these two cards are void of any true contender match-ups.
We’ve got a full week of UFC action ahead of us, and we’re kicking it off with a Wednesday Fight For The Troops UFC Fight Night 31 card. I’ve always liked that the UFC takes a stance for this cause, and the former soldiers fighting here always bring an extra bit of fire to the cage on these nights.
In the middle of a marathon stretch of MMA, the UFC hit up Brazil with a card full of unknowns. Even if I couldn’t tell the Silvas from the Souzas from the Silverios, there were a few guys who caught my eye, for better or worse. Here’s where my mind was at during a ho-hum evening of combat.
The UFC is once again raking up the frequent flyer miles as they return to Brazil for tomorrows UFC Fight Night 28. If you’re thinking to yourself didn’t we just do this, the answer would be yes because UFC Fight Night 28 is the third UFC event in the last seven days.
The third UFC event in a week (UFC Fight Night 28) will take us down to Brazil, for a card that has suffered greatly from injuries to be something only a native would recognize. The main event is still intact however, as Glover Teixeira looks to continue his march to a title shot, taking on Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader. We also have a compelling co-main in the middleweight division, as Yushin Okami faces former Strikeforce champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a division shaping match-up.
