Original the UK’s favorite fighter Michael Bisping was set to headline opposite Mark Munoz but an eye injury removed the Count and in stepped former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.

UFC 166 will be a hard act to follow, but the best and brightest of English MMA are up to the task and looking to make a name for themselves at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 30. Our main event is a case of a fight cancellation’s replacement being better than the original, as Michael Bisping is replaced by Lyoto Machida in a Middleweight tilt.

Before the event even started it was Alexander Gustfsson and the fans who were the big losers. The Swede suffered a cut above his eye and was unable to headline the fight card in Stockholm, Sweden. Luckily for the hometown fans in attendance another Swede stepped in to face Gegard Mousasi in the main event.

While most of you were at work today the fighters for tomorrow’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 hit the scales today on Stockholm, Sweden. All 26 fighters made weight without issue this morning and are set to step into the Octagon tomorrow morning.
The last few days have been spent figuring out figuring out who would be in this Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 main event. A cut to the face of the hometown fighter Alexander Gustafsson forced a very late opponent change for Gegard Mousasi. Instead of a five round main event against a top five light heavyweight in Gustafsson, Mousasi now faces the unknown Llir Latifi in a three round bout.
It’s always nice to see a big promotion test the Northern European waters, and with all the talent pouring out of the tundra and fjords, it’s no wonder UFC on FUEL TV 9 is stacked. Our main event features none other than Sweden’s fighting pride, Alexander Gustafsson, as he’ll look to take one step closer to a title shot. His opponent is the often underestimated and always dangerous Gegard Mousasi, who comes into this fight as one of the last Strikeforce transplants, and a former title holder in that promotion.
Despite the friction between his father and the UFC, former Strikeforce lightweight Ryan Couture will make his Octagon debut on the April 6th UFC on FUEL TV 9 card. The fight card is set to take place at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden where Couture will be taking on The Ultimate fighter season 9 winner Ross Pearson.
