Fresh off of his loss to Jason MacDonald, Ryan Jensen has been released by the UFC. Ryan posted the news on his Facebook page earlier today. Jensen is 2-4 in the UFC and had lost two fights in a row, to Court McGee and then Jason McDonald so the writing was on the wall.
The UFC took their show north to Toronto and in front of a massive audience of some 55,000 people, they choose to air their entire undercard. There were five fights on facebook.com, here’s the result of those fights.
For the first time, this Saturday night, you can watch all 12 UFC fights by tuning into Facebook online, Spike TV and then purchasing the PPV event. It’s pretty excellent that the UFC is making all these fights available to the fans. Here’s who you’ll see and where.
Just 6 months ago before Demian Maia took on Nate Marquardt at UFC 102 I thought to myself, If Maia beats Marquardt I would love to see him face Anderson Silva. Maia had entered the UFC 6-0 and rolled through Ryan Jensen, Ed Herman, Jason Macdonald, Nate Quarry & Chael Sonnen on route to Marquardt. At 11-0 and having submitted all his opponents in the UFC, Maia to me looked like the one that could contend with Silva.
The weigh-ins for UFC 108 were just completed, all fighters were able to make weight with exception to Paul Daley who weighed in out 172lbs. He has two hours to lose one pound to get to 171lbs. max welterweight limit. The stare downs were really tame with the only confrontation being Cole Miller and Dan Lauzon pointing fingers at one another. Tomorrows PPV isn’t the best ever but I guess considering the number of injuries it could have been worse.
