How often do you get to fight in a hanger these days? Not often for sure, but at Fight for the Troops, there was all kinds of action inside the base at Fort Campbell, and plenty of military men and women entertaining the soldiers. Tomorrow’s UFC Fight Night 31 marks the return of the UFC Fight for the Troops event. It’s been roughly 22 months since the last Fight for the Troops and let me say that it’s long over due and welcome back.
We’ve got a full week of UFC action ahead of us, and we’re kicking it off with a Wednesday Fight For The Troops UFC Fight Night 31 card. I’ve always liked that the UFC takes a stance for this cause, and the former soldiers fighting here always bring an extra bit of fire to the cage on these nights.
The Holiday weekend is still in full force and the UFC has one more night of fireworks planned for the fans with tonight’s UFC 162 from Las Vegas, Nevada. The city that never sleeps has been home to fighters and fight fans for most of the week waiting for the UC 162 grand finale between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.
Summer is here, the Fourth of July weekend is upon us and the UFC is home in Las Vegas, Nevada for its med-year spectacular UFC 162. The stacked fight card will be the final event of the “UFC Fight Week”, which also includes the very popular Fan Expo.
The UFC returns to Australia this weekend for The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes finale or properly called, UFC on FX 6: TUF Smashes. In some tricky scheduling, we have two TUF Finales in two days, with TUF: The Smashes and TUF 16: Carwin vs. Nelson. While Carwin vs. Nelson itself will be put on the shelf due to Carwin’s knee injury, we’re still treated to a solid card with Matt Mitrione stepping in on short notice against Nelson. Being as us American folks missed out of The Smashes, I’ll be combining these two cards into one epic fight report for your reading pleasure, so let’s dig into the massive report.
Now that the LONG awaited UFC 152 is over, some may be wondering where do some of the winners go now. Overall UFC 152 was very good, from the beginning preliminaries through most of the Pay Per View main card, we had several good finishes and one near HUGE upset.
