One of the best free cards we’re likely to see this year, the UFC hits Australia again to kick off their Flyweight tournament and highlight some Aussie talent. Between this card and Strikeforce, we have some major betting fodder to work with here, so let me help you find the money with my comparison betting odds, valid props, and my general confidence level in my picks for each bout.
The light heavyweight division in the UFC is one of the deepest the promotion has. Jon “Bones” Jones lit the MMA world on fire last year by fighting a staggering four times, three of which were title bouts. Jones seems to be unstoppable, but that hasn’t kept his challengers from wanting to take the newest sensation in MMA down a peg or two.
Ever since fighters started cutting a large amount of weight there has been fighters missing weight. Mixed Martial Artists Paul Daley, Thiago Alves and Anthony Johnson are notorious for missing weight, having fought several catchweight bouts between the three. For UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes, Johnson moved up from welterweight to middleweight to fight Vitor Belfort, which should have solved that problem right?
For a moment there Thiago Alves looked to be another victim of the dreaded GSP curse. Playing the role of the victim in three of his last four fights including the title shot, the “Pitbull” had to make a statement against UFC new comer Papy “Makambo” Abedi at UFC 138 last Saturday night. Starting off by not making weight (again) was a another step in the wrong direction by Alves. The Dolce Diet devotee had no problem making weight on his second attempt though, allowing this fight to be contested at Welterweight as planned.
The UFC 138 undercard kicked off early on Facebook and then continued on with the main card, live in the UK and Canada. Those of us in the US will have to wait to watch in on Spike TV on the ever popular tape delay.
Traveling across the pond again to entertain the always loyal and fight loving fans of England; UFC 138 is live tomorrow night (morning) from the LG Arena in Birmingham. Headlined by a middleweight contender tilt which many are calling for the winner to receive a title shot, the international card also showcases some of Europe’s best fighters, seasoned veterans and one very amped Ultimate Fighter contestant, WOOOOOOOO!
All but one of the 20 fighters on Saturdays UFC 138 card made weight today and surprise, surprise it was Thiago Alves who came in heavy. Now before you pop a gasket over Alves missing weight yet again, he was just a single one past the 171 lbs non-title welterweight limit. He was given one hour to get rid of that pesky pound and step back on the scale.
It’s going to be tough to follow last week’s event, and while the UFC 138 card isn’t packed with star power, it’s certainly filled with competitive match-ups. With a lot of new faces, this could be a tough one to make money on, but you know we’ve all got to try to outsmart the bookies. Last night the fighters for tonight’s Bellator 100 stepped onto the scales with all 24 fighters making weight. The historic 100th event for Bellator takes places tonight from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and features an all welterweight main card on Spike TV.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale Weigh-in Pictures
Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
UFC on FUEL TV 4 Weigh-in Results and Photos
SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
TUF Live Finale Live Results and Event Pictures
The long grind of the first live version of The Ultimate Fighter ends tonight at the TUF Live Finale in Las Vegas. Featuring 12 of the 16 TUF Live contestants, the 10 bout card will be headlined by an important match-up in the welterweight division between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann.
