The lightweight final for this season of Bellator is a monster of a fight with Patricky Freire (9-1) meeting Michael Chandler (7-0) in clash of violently ambitious young fighters, looking to put sweat on the brow of champion Eddie Alvarez.
Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (9-1) became the first lightweight to advance to the season four tournament finals with a first round knockout of Toby Imada.
On a weekend with no UFC cards, Bellator 39 had the MMA community all too them self’s, allowing them to showcase their talent to the masses. With two tournament bouts and a lightweight title fight gracing the main televised card on MTV2 this was the perfect card to have the full fans attention.
Arguably the best Bellator card of season four come this weekend with Bellator 39 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The card will feature the first title fight on season four with lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez defending his title against Pat Curran.
The first four events of Bellator’s fourth season are now in the books, completing all of the tournaments quarterfinal rounds. Each of the four tournaments started with an eight man field that was dwindled down to four following the quarterfinals. It’s now time for the semifinal round and other then one welterweight fight; the semifinals are set and below are the schedule of when they will fight.
A fight card that needs no judges is music to the ears of both the fighters and the fans. At tonight Bellator 36 from the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, La the judges could have taken the night off because none of the seven fights went the distance.
