After last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 17 where two fighters advanced into the semifinals, tonight’s episode will complete the quarterfinal round. Kelvin Gastelum from Team Sonnen and Dylan Andrews from Team Jones have advanced and will learn their opponents for the next round tonight.
The month has changes to April and things will begin to pick up this month with loads of MMA action over the next couple weeks. Last week saw Bellator hold down the fort for mainstream MMA, while TUF 17 entered the quarterfinals with two fighters advancing to the semifinals.
With the quarterfinal matchups set at the conclusion of last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 17, tonight two of those four bouts will take place. Two spots in the semifinals will be up for grabs as Collin Hart takes on Kelvin Gastelum and Dylan Andrews faces Luke Barnett.
With the last opening round bout on The Ultimate Fighter 17 now in the books we turn our attention to the wild card spot. Bubba McDaniel and Kevin Casey will finally step into Octagon as Team Jones looks to even things up before the quarterfinals begin.
Jimmy won a brutal fight with Clint on last week’s episode of TUF 17, showing how durable he was while working to get Clint’s back and locking in a rear naked coke. Even though Team Darkside took the victory there were only two guys left to fight, Dylan Andrews and myself.
On tonight’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 17 was jam packed. Not only did the last preliminary round fight take place but the wildcard match up was also revealed. We also got the traditional coach’s challenge as Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen went head to head prior to their UFC 159 title fight.
With Josh Samman getting a win over Tor, it essentially gave Team Jones the last two TUF 17 match-up selections for the opening round. They decided that Clint Hester and Jimmy Quinlan would fight first, which left Dylan and myself for the last preliminary fight. After the fight, Team Jones sat in the locker room talking a little bit about Bubba having the wildcard for sure and that they felt it would be a “Jones Finale.”
This week in MMA was absent of a UFC event as the promotion geared up for UFC 159. The highly anticipated welterweight championship main event between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz had fans and media buzzing last week after the explosive pre-fight conference call that Diaz took over.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
UFC on FUEL TV 4 Weigh-in Results and Photos
SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.

The long grind of the first live version of The Ultimate Fighter ends tonight at the TUF Live Finale in Las Vegas. Featuring 12 of the 16 TUF Live contestants, the 10 bout card will be headlined by an important match-up in the welterweight division between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann.

All the fighters for tomorrow’s TUF Live Finale were on weight as they stepped onto the scales inside the Pearl at the Palms. The 20 fighters, including 12 of the 16 TUF Live fighters will begin entering the Octagon tomorrow starting at 2:45pm PT / 5:45pm ET.
