All but one of the 20 fighters on Saturdays UFC 138 card made weight today and surprise, surprise it was Thiago Alves who came in heavy. Now before you pop a gasket over Alves missing weight yet again, he was just a single one past the 171 lbs non-title welterweight limit. He was given one hour to get rid of that pesky pound and step back on the scale.

This weekend UFC 138 marks an important change in UFC history, for the first time ever all main event fights will be able to go into deep water and be five rounds. This is a perfect example of both fans and fighters getting their chance for more exciting fights to continue on. The UFC has crammed a free on TV fight card with many newly signed prospects and two seasoned vets to drive the fights into the history books. Mark Munoz will meet Chris Leben in the first five round non title fight, but don’t expect it to fill its allotted slot.

Former WEC and Cage Rage standout Brad Pickett will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time at UFC 138 this Saturday night in Birmingham, England. The last time we saw the gentleman they call “One Punch” (who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC 130 in May) he fought himself to a unanimous decision victory over Ivan Menjivar as a part of the final WEC show. After sitting out for nearly a year due to injury Pickett is finally ready to put a much-needed jolt into the UFC Bantamweight division.
