It’s fight week again which can only mean one thing, bold predictions time! UFC 138 is one of those cards that raise the eyebrows of fans for the wrong reasons. Sporting a card that will look better in person than on paper, the undercard will stream on Facebook while the main card will be shown via tape delay in the states on Spike TV.

All but one of the 20 fighters on Saturdays UFC 138 card made weight today and surprise, surprise it was Thiago Alves who came in heavy. Now before you pop a gasket over Alves missing weight yet again, he was just a single one past the 171 lbs non-title welterweight limit. He was given one hour to get rid of that pesky pound and step back on the scale.
This weekend UFC 138 marks an important change in UFC history, for the first time ever all main event fights will be able to go into deep water and be five rounds. This is a perfect example of both fans and fighters getting their chance for more exciting fights to continue on. The UFC has crammed a free on TV fight card with many newly signed prospects and two seasoned vets to drive the fights into the history books. Mark Munoz will meet Chris Leben in the first five round non title fight, but don’t expect it to fill its allotted slot.
Former WEC and Cage Rage standout Brad Pickett will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time at UFC 138 this Saturday night in Birmingham, England. The last time we saw the gentleman they call “One Punch” (who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC 130 in May) he fought himself to a unanimous decision victory over Ivan Menjivar as a part of the final WEC show. After sitting out for nearly a year due to injury Pickett is finally ready to put a much-needed jolt into the UFC Bantamweight division.
Just four days before Saturdays UFC 138 in Birmingham, England fans were hit with the unfortunate news that lightweight fighter Paul Taylor had been forced out of his main-card bout and there would be no replacement. The unfortunate news continued for those in the states, as Spike TV will be airing the UFC 138 main card via the dreaded tape delay.
It’s going to be tough to follow last week’s event, and while the UFC 138 card isn’t packed with star power, it’s certainly filled with competitive match-ups. With a lot of new faces, this could be a tough one to make money on, but you know we’ve all got to try to outsmart the bookies. So, check out my comparison betting odds for this event, as well as any money-making props that catch my eye and let’s bring home the bacon together.
Chris Leben and Mark Munoz will meet in the very first non-title five round main event at UFC 138 in Birmingham, England. This will be the new standard for all subsequent non-title main events, but “The Crippler” and “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” will be our pioneers on this new frontier.
Add an intriguing November Middleweight Clash to the overflowing list of recent fight announcements in the past handful of days. The UFC announced today that Chris “The Crippler” Leben and Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz will headline a free TV card on November 5th in Birmingham, England.
