Still working out what will work best on network TV the UFC returns to FOX this Saturday with the UFC on FOX 3 from East Rutherford, New Jersey. This Saturday night, the UFC will once again be put on a mammoth stage with UFC on FOX 3. Their first two efforts on Fox TV were not tremendously popular with the fans. UFC on Fox 1 featured one fight and it ran just over a minute. The UFC were forced to cover an hour of airtime with their lone fight covering just a smidge 1/60th of said time. UFC on Fox 2 saw three fights, all going the distance. The main event between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis wasn’t terribly riveting so the fans complained.
UFC on FOX 3 comes to New Jersey this Saturday and Dana White released his first “Fight Week” video blog tonight. In the latest installment, White gives fans something a little different as he caught TUF Live coach Urijah Faber outside the TUF training center eating a sandwich, while flexing in the reflective glass.
The Tony Ferguson curse has struck once again, as it has been announced that Ferguson’s second scheduled opponent for the UFC on FOX 3, Thiago Tavares has also been forced to withdraw from his bout with Ferguson. Tony’s first scheduled opponent was Dennis Hallman, who was forced out the contest with Ferguson due to a pre-fight injury, and now that Tavares has suffered a similar situation, Michael Johnson has stepped up to face Tony at the upcoming UFC event.
Top welterweight Josh Koscheck will look to erase his unimpressive split decision performance at UFC 143 by getting back into the Octagon right away. Koscheck will get back into action on May 5th against Johny Hendricks, as part of the televised portion of the UFC on FOX 3 card from East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Coming off the second UFC on FOX card that had three “meaningful” bouts on the main card, the promotion seems to going the “exciting” route for the third installment. On the heels of the Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz bout being elevated to the main event, the UFC has added another bout that is sure to keep the fans on the edge of their seats.
Great news for MMA fans, in that the recently announced bout of Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz for the UFC on FOX 3 has been announced as shows main event and will be a five round contest. Miller is clawing his way back to where he stood in the rankings for the better part of 2011, and Diaz is doing just what the Diaz brothers are famous for, beating people up, and then demanding higher level opposition.
Ultimate Fighter season 13 winner Tony Ferguson will take on the veteran Dennis Hallman at the next UFC on FOX card in May. The bout was announced Monday via the UFC official twitter account and will most likely be a part of the nights preliminary card.
