There were some who said the WEC Lightweights couldn’t hang with their counterparts in the UFC prior to the merger of of the two Zuffa organizations. Donald Cerrone looks to continue to erase that thought from people’s minds as he looks to make his 2011 perfect. Since coming up to the UFC this year at UFC 126, The Cowboy has remained unbeaten in his four fights inside The Octagon, and will look to keep that trend going as he takes on Nate Diaz at UFC 141.

It would appear Christmas has arrived early for MMA fans since November has delivered solid actions and fights since UFC 138 in England, where Mark Munoz sidelined Chris Leben and moved one step closer to a title shot. UFC on FOX debuted with record-setting numbers (8.8 million viewers) that all watched as Junior Dos Santos finished Cain Velasquez in the opening minute of their fight. Tomorrow night from the HP Pavilion inSan Jose,CA former WEC champions Brain Bowles and Urijah Faber square off in a match that could lead either man back to another bout with current champion, Dominick Cruz in 2012.

Brad Pickett Set to Make His Long Awaited UFC Debut

Former WEC and Cage Rage standout Brad Pickett will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time at UFC 138 this Saturday night in Birmingham, England. The last time we saw the gentleman they call “One Punch” (who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC 130 in May) he fought himself to a unanimous decision victory over Ivan Menjivar as a part of the final WEC show. After sitting out for nearly a year due to injury Pickett is finally ready to put a much-needed jolt into the UFC Bantamweight division.

Donald Cerrone Steps Up Once Again at UFC 137

When it was announced that the WEC would be merging with the UFC, many began wondering how the Lightweight division would pan out. The Bantamweights and Featherweights could easily cross over and continue thriving as if nothing happened. However, the WEC Lightweights would have to figure out to survive among the better known UFC Lightweights. With the division being so large now, it was assumed that there would be some “house cleaning” and guys would be released from the company. One man who took matters into his own hands to secure a position on the roster was Donald Cerrone, who has become somewhat of the replacement fighter.

Two weeks ago Dominick Cruz made his second UFC title defense and fourth overall by defeating Demetrious Johnson at UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson. During the main event fight though, Cruz suffered a right hand injury that required surgery. Ironically the injury suffered against on October 1st to the right hand was identical to the injury he had repaired on his left hand prior to making his UFC debut.
