There is a lot on the line for both Tyson Griffin and Takonori Gomi at UFC Versus 2.  Both fighters are coming off losses and can’t afford a second straight defeat.

During his days in Pride, Gomi was widely regarded as the best 155 lbs fighter in the world, now however Gomi is just 2-3 in his last five fights and a loss to Griffin would put him at 0-2 in the UFC.  Gomi lost his UFC debut to Kenny Florian via rear naked choke at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs Gomi.  This is a must win for Gomi is he wants to not only stay relevant in the 155 lbs division but also to avoid possibly being cut by the UFC as well.

Griffin is coming off of a loss to fellow Extreme Couture teammate Evan Dunham and has gone 2-2 in his last four fights.  Griffin started off very strong in the UFC earning five fight of the night awards, but has since cooled off and a loss to Gomi will certainly knock him back to the bottom of the division.

These two match up very well stylistically and should offer fans an all out war on the feet and if the fight goes to the ground it will be the wrestling skills of Griffin versus the submission skills of Gomi.

No matter where the fight goes look for an all out war as both fighters are essentially fighting for their careers in one of the most stacked weight divisions in all of mixed martial arts.
