Last night in the main event of UFC 119, there was something missing in the fight. Something that turned the fight into a slow and boring fight, that something is a killer instinct. To be more specific, the killer instinct from a man who used to be one of the most feared strikers in MMA, Mirko Cro Cop.

Cro Cop was in the cage last night looking to not get taken down by Frank Mir, rather than to take his head off and place it in the second row. Known for his devastating leg kicks, the Croatian threw very few kicks at Mir and landed nothing that could be called devastating. The only devastating strike landed last night was when Mir connecting with a knee to Cro Cop’s jaw to ended the fight.

Furthermore for the second time in as many fights Cro Cop looked overly respectful to his opponent. In his UFC 115 fight with Pat Berry, the two were shaking hands, talking and smiling to each other during the fight. Last night Cro Cop could also be seen chatting with Mir during the clinch. He also came over to Mir to say he was sorry after Mir was kneed accidentally below the belt.

The “new” Mirko Cro Cop, while nice and friendly to the fans and media it seems to have carried over to his opponent as well. In changing his personality, Cro Cop has lost his killing instinct turning him into what we saw last night, boring.
